EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Re: Shichida 65-Day Math programme?

i have viewed the print out shichida 65-Day Math programme.. i dun understand what is the difference between GD Math and SM except for the equation part - For SM : You are only required to flash read out the answer of the equation i.e. say 1+1, flash answer to your child. For GD Math : required to flash 1, say "+" flash 1, then answer. Its only after sometime then required to just say out the equation and flash answer to your child.
Actually i dun really quite like SM of just flashing the answer to our child. Its like memorising the answer without knowing the concept of math. Remember for SM, it was said to stick strictly to the equations as stated in the programme. so, of course after some time of hearing the same equation being read out, kids will remember the answer. But do they really know the concept behind it? Will the child only know 8+2=10 but wont know the result of 10 can be 5+5, 4+6, 1+9
I prefer the GD Math cos by flashing 1, then 1, follow by the answer, the child will have a vision/concept of addition.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Re: LM: Does using other icons has the same effect as of red dots?

yes.using other icons has the same effect as red dots. Just that its advisable to use red dots for babies as what others have mentioned. Older babies and toddlers are able to see the icon as an item no matter if its a red dot or picture dot.Other icons with different pictures and patterns are to keep the babies stay interested. I guess they will get bored seeing the same dots every day (even with changing quantities)

with reference from the article, i think this nanny Verity is crazy..she must have a bad childhood and definately not fit to take care of babies!! Quote:
"I can't understand why anybody wants to cuddle a baby or pick a baby up," she said. "A baby doesn't want to be touched all the time. All they want is to be left alone to grow."
"The biggest mistake parents can make is to allow a baby to dictate to them. A baby should fit into your way of life, not you into its."

Hi
I wanted to do 2 languages in LR but not sure how to do it example: word in english, word in japanese, picture or word in english, picture, word in japanese. Can someone help pls? i read in a similar topic in Ayesha thread, but am really confused about it cos she uses arabic word as a jpeg. In my case, can i just copy and paste the japanese word under the "word" column in LR? or is there any other way to show 2 words + picture (english, foreign, pic) So when doing a 2 words + picture, does that mean one word file will display 3 slides?

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Any updates with Little Reader Version 1.2.118
|

I am wondering if there is any update/improvement made to Little Reader Version 1.2.118 example like speed of flashing in LR to be faster, faster pronounciation (Like Little Math) and a note area for parents to write down comments/note. This is useful when it is in used with foreign language, the note area could contain the translated english for parent to see/read. I think someone had brought up this earlier, but i do not know if there have been improvement made to Little Reader. Or have i miss out anything in updating my Little Reader? please advise. Thanks!
