Parents' Lounge / Coffee Corner - General Chat / Re: Do you share your knowledge with other people??

I have tried to share on a number of occasions with my friends and family. My family is fascinated by it, and super eager to learn. Most of my friends and colleagues, however, say things like "you're going to fry your child's brain" or "you're going to create a dysfunctional child.
Exactly this is what people around me tell too.... Initially i felt so bad,but now they are all wondering by watching my son and eager to know abt right brain education. Their ego still doesnt let them learn. I give their own time to understand... Afterall they are grown up that way. So nowadays i neither get angry nor am i put down. Time will definitely bring out a change. Im happy and surprised that,in India we have schools that follow GlennDoman, may be very few in number. But i can very well see people are changing their attitude in education nowadays...

DrPrimo. I had the same question too. but as we just had fun,we continue this game.... Some more ideas: 1. Use cards having more than one picture on it. 2. Mandalas can be used as memory cards too... 3. Once the baby is trained, complex mandalas with different colors can be used. Just my idea, hope it works out!! Lemme try it out too... The same cards can be further used as linking memory set..

Techniques for photographic memory for babies below 2years: Have two sets of picture cards(the size need not be A4)...i use cards having the size of playing cards. For babies of 13 or 14 months, initially 5 cards. show one card for less than a second and ask the baby to pick up the card shown.Gradually increase the number of cards. (may be u can also show two cards for one second and ask the child to pick up the two from a large set) This technique works wonders to my son.I show 15 cards at a time and he is njoying the game.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Our experience so far with "Music for Little Mozarts"

DaDdude,u do a great job!! Thanks for sharing. I would like to know what sort of music or music lessons u introduced to your son when he was 15 months. Little mozart is for kids from 4 to 5yrs right? I teach my son carnatic and play keyboard, apart from that he sleeps hearing to classical music(violin, veena, tabla, guitar, saxophone and a few others.) They are quite soothing. But i dont know how to make him learn music. I just paly in front of him saying what exactly i do. He puts all his fingers and bangs on the keyboard.

Thats nice rakhi... LR really does a great job. Recently i started showing preschool prep meet the sight words and it really works wonder too. In a day my son started reading 'my','but','with','see','on'. I was very happy and surprised to know he was reading in just one day!! But the funny thing is that in whichever word he sees the letter 'y', he says 'my',with the same modulation as that in the dvd!! Howmanyever times i tell its 'you' and not 'my',he doesnt listen. Sometimes he comes to say 'you' but as if he has done a mistake he corrects himself and says 'my' ... Funny.... Kids love LR as it is multisensory. As with flashcards we have to be very creative (as creative as kids)... Happy parenting..
