EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / How do you protect your flash cards?

I don't know if this is the right section to post my question.. To the moderators, feel free to move wherever it suits.
I have purchased LR + LM just recently and still my husband uses the trial version. Besides those softwares, I would love to show my 9 month old baby flash cards. The thing here is, I don't want it all thorn out. As much effort I do in downloading the flashcards, I would want to protect them so it would last till the next baby. I thought of laminating it but hell here in Abu Dhabi, Laminating machines are expensive not to mention buying the pouches. Can you give me any idea how so I could preserve those stuff???

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Kid crying
|

Hi everyone,
I have a neighbor with an 8year old son. He's crying (starts 6pm) when his mom and dad isn't in the house. I've come to know that there was an instance before that an accident occur. I asked the boy why does he cry everyday and says he's thinking that something might happen to his parents. And that means they could die. Really, it has been terrible to his nanny. Sometimes, the boy thinks of jumping off the window (we are on the 10th floor) if his parents are not there. The nanny of corz was histerical since we live in the middle east, she'll get punished if something happened and be blamed or police would notice the behavior. To my friends, the behavior was nothing but for me, being a third party... and noticing it everyday there should be something to do. The nanny is really trying her best to stop the crying everytime that he even tell the boy that if he does that again she'll go away and never come back. Then the boy would stop crying... but after some days, there he goes again. To the boy, he said he don't know how to stop what he thinks. He knows that is bad but everytime sun is down and the parents are not around he cries really really loud.
Any advice? I want to help the poor boy but I don't know how. I tried to comfort him telling that's just his subconscious and what should be done is pray always for guidance. But I think that didn't help either. Trully the boy has been traumatized of what ever the incident was.

Parents' Lounge / General Pregnancy / Re: Do I need to take folic acid and omega3 supplements while on my 2nd trimester?

Hi seanhendrick,
Folic acid is really essential when we're pregnant. It helps our baby against spinabifida (I think). The bottom line is, it is a must. I took my folic acid in the entire pregnancy and even after it. My O.B recommends it plus take the iron supplements since I am breastfeeding. According to him, all the nutrients I have is absorbed by my baby. In effect, when we breastfeed, we do feel week. For the fish oil, I suggest you stop it first, or better yet ask your doctor regarding this. I've wanted to take those omega3 supplements before but doctor didn't recommend it. Instead he refer a dietician and gave me a whole list of foods to take and keep a balance on all nutrients.
Better to take veggies, meat, fruits first rather than resorting to food supplements except those prescribed by doctors. And even if those prescribed, my husband read the labels first if it's recommended for preggies. If it says no test has been done.. immediately to the trash bin.
Hope this helps.

The BrillKids Forum / Forum Feedback + Questions / Loyalty Points to purchase LR & LM

Sorry if this question has been asked previously. I'm new in the forum and still wondering about some things. I really want to purchase the above mentioned programs for my baby. But since I lack budget for that and my husband does not support me since it's not within our means, is it possible to purchase LR & LM by using acquired loyalty points? If it does, how much loyalty points should I acquire? Also, any tips on increasing my loyalty points. I am new in the forum and don't know somehow where to start. I'm avidly reading it since the day I registered.
Thanks in advance.

I'm new in this forum and just found out about brillbaby and brillkids.. I hope I could be welcome by the community.
I'm a mom of a 9month old baby boy and is trying to look for some ways to teach him read at the moment. I've encountered Brillbaby and their products are Little Reader and Little Math. I'm eager to buy those but since it's a little expensive to me and I might not afford it. For now, maybe the 14-day trial would do.
cheers, paps
