Just passing through. I am an example of sleep training gone bad. My 5 years old is still sleeping with me. 

I always do layers with my kiddo, 2-4 layers depends on the weather. If it's hot, I take some off, and if it's getting cold, he is warm enough from the clothes I put on him. We live in Canada and it's freezing over here. 

I normally buy plain white or black pullovers and put his summer t-shirts on top of those.  I can do mix and match with that. 
For your 6 months old, buy plain color onesies and make sure to buy larger size as babies grow too fast.

I would buy as big as 12-8 months or 18 months up if I were you.

If I were you, I would keep LR. Your little one might not like it now but she may love it later. My son used to refuse to watch LR. We had to stop for a month and then tried again. You can use LR without customization. I think it works perfectly well. Also, you can use Split Word feature to create your own phonic lessons.

I have been using LR since 2010. My son's out grown the curriculum but I still find LR useful. I am now using it to teach him Phonograms and spelling.

Oh, you can easily create homemade flashcards with LR with only a few clicks.  The print feature allows you to print every single word and picture in LR curriculum. This would save you  a lot of time when you want to create your own flashcards.

If you aren't good at keeping track (like myself  ), you can use LR daily lessons as your guideline and flash the word and picture card (by hand) according to LR curriculum.

This topic was in Oct 2012 but just want to say that I have been using Jump math with my kindergarten son. We are using AP Book 1.1.
I really love it.  For me, Math is the most difficult subject to teach because I was never good at numbers or math. Jump Math makes me a better Math teacher (for my son).The teacher guide is my life saver. It tells me what to say, what to teach, and how to teach. 



 

My son will turn 5 this November. He went to a Montessori school. We got his report card and thanks to EL that we have done at home, everything is exceeding school's expectations.

The Montessori tutition fees are expensive so we decided send him to a public Catholic school this September. He is going to school full time and  I am considering  sending him to a public French immersion school when he goes to Grade 1. 

My son is an only child but very social.  We can see that he wants friends and loves being around other children. School is the best for him and he is really excited about going to his new school.

We live in Canada.

I will teach him at home after school, though. I will choose my subjects to teach according to his school curriculum.

This is a great book! Jakob loves it too. He is afraid that he's going to have a big lump on his throat when he whines.

 When I started doing EL with my son 3 years ago, I was very lonely. I've lived in Canada which is not my home country. I couldn't find any Thai moms who lived close to me.
