EARLY LEARNING / Homeschooling / Re: Have you guys seen this? k-12 virtual home school

I think that sounds like a great FREE resource for parents that want the ability to be more in charge of thier child's learning at home. But really benificial to someone like me who would be too chicken to really be in charge of what they are learning. My biggest fear about homeschooling is that I would screw it up somehow This seams like it would take the guess work out of the basics. If you wanted to supplement more you would have the freedom to do so, but you could be confident that the core basics are being covered.

I'm actually curious about this too. I have done it a few times It is my understanding that if it is being used for educational purposes and not for monetary gain, it's ok. But I could be way off. Do points here on LR count as a gain??

Oh you poor thing! I hate it when doctors throw stuff at us like we're always supposed to know what they mean.
I agree with what patience said. I believe it just means that if you are very low on iron it increases your need for a blood transfusion because of the amount of blood that can be lost during childbirth. I was very low in my last pregnancy, but everything went smoothly.

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / What is your child's favorite LR set?

What is your child's favorite LR set? You know, the one you have to play every time you get on LR and probably a few more time before you stop.
My little guys loves any set with animals and thier sounds. He gets quite a kick out of hearing the animal noises.
But, his all time favorite is Pirate Song by Ed. I don't know why but he just loves this! Every time it plays he laughs and starts dancing. When it is done he always says and signs for more.

The same company that I linked to in the first post also sells a moms vitamin called Supermom. I might give that a try also.
Has anyone tried the vitamins and fish supplements by Dr. Sears?
I googled the patrick holford range vitamins and they look great, but they do not seem to readily available in the US.

Parents' Lounge / Coffee Corner - General Chat / Re: car seat right place?

I think it is said that the middle backseat is the safest. However, if you have multiple children you really don't have a choice but to put someone on the side.
I have a mini van that has two bucket seats on the sides. It would be too dificult to put a car seat in the third row seat. Because like nhockaday said, you would literally have to crawl all the way in to reach baby.
I personally like my smallest one to be behind the passenger seat. That way when I am the driver I can easily peek over my shoulder to look at him and he can see me too.

Products Marketplace / Product Discussions and Reviews / Re: Montessori materials

I haven't looked through this whole site but from what I did see, it looks great. All the downloads are free! http://www.montessorimaterials.org/I don't know a whole lot about the Montessori method so hopefully this will be helpful to you. I'm sure you could also find other materials that would be useful in everyday stores. I know with this method it is good to allow your child to do things for themselves at the earliest time. So getting things that are on a smaller scale for them to use is great. Like a small broom or a plastic pitcher for pouring thier own drink or a stool to make it easier for them to stand at the counter to help you cook or wash dishes.

You might also check out your local library. I know ours has a few of the series 2 videos in stock. That way you could check it out before you commit to buy. I do this all the time. It's a great way to save money by not buying videos that you end up not even liking!
