BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Instructions for Dummy to creat Downloads in LR

another question : My images are sourced from the internet. If the size of the downloaded images are small, can we still resize it to a desirable one that LR need i.e. 640x480? (i know we can resize: what i meant is there a minimal size to take note of before we download? so that we know that we can still enlarge the picture to a desirable size without compromising the pixels?)

BrillKids Software / Little Math - General Discussion / Re: Auto Forward on with the highest speed is still pretty slow /I have short sounds

agreed. Same here, instead of watching the screen my bb is more interested in seeing my hands clicking the mouse.
I read in a Schida article that you need fast flipping of the cards in order to stimulate the right brain. Its much difficult to get their attention span espec the screen is filled with all stationary dots/items. So by flipping fast, it kinda of move. I also realise that this also happen in Little Reader as well. Any possible to improve LR by increasing the speed when Auto Forward is on?

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Instructions for Dummy to creat Downloads in LR

I wanted to start to making downloads, but have been intimated by all the technicality. To make it worse, i do not have the time to read in all the discussions as my bb cling to me all day. YES, all day. And he naps little. Is there a section for a dummy like me? I am so lost in how to start going about. I wanted to learn and start customising it for my bb. Starting from Scratch e.g. Tools Needed : Powerpoint Slides, Pictures you take / images downloaded from web. Sound files, Microphone to record own voice.Voice recorder found in own own laptop. we can also use the voice recorder in Little Reader Example: I wanted to do downloads about animals - Dog, so i will present it in a powerpoint slide. 1st slide : Word Dog with my own voice recording. 2nd slide: dog pic, sound (Is this right?) I will refer to http://forum.brillkids.com/little-reader-how-tos-and-faqs/tip-3-for-using-little-reader-how-to-record-your-own-voice-and-picture-audio/So is that all? Now from the import icon in LR, i use it to extract my file to LR? I didnt have time to try it out. This is just what i think it should be done. Please advise

I know a few members in this forum have experiences in Tweedlewink / Twink DVDs. I have bought Tweedlewink package myself. (6 DVDs cost US 179.95) Played the first CD and already was quite disappointed for the voice is quite soft and the picture images are small and not very clear. i.e. For Body parts, Neck - The pic image was a Boy, a small Box is highlighted at his neck area to represent the word. But the image is so small. Further more, when they teach about i.e. Solar System, they read the words but do not show any text. Can anyone share with me if you have these problems? I am quite upset & feel cheated for they are quite expensive and i would expect a better video quality and presentation.
Memory Magic - please, any recommendations / reviews from those who have bought this DVD? I am thinking of getting this DVD as well

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Download Preview in Little Reader Library

In the Little Reader Library, there are some files that can be previewed first downloading, however there are some which do not have the option for previewing. Is there any reason? Categories (ie. Animals with items: Pig, dog, cat, bird) can be presented in a different ways & I prefer the previewing option to ensure i dont download dulplicate items in that category

thank you for starting this thread. I always wanted my child to learn music, in fact already looking forward to Little Musicians. I didnt know we can enrol an infant in Kindermusic till i read in this forum. I only know yamaha and check that they only have programs for young toddler at 2 years old (i think) but not young infants.

Thanks everybody for the contribution. Having you guys here make me feel i am not alone. hi ayesha - thanks for the great video clips and readings! Wish i had know these when I am preg hi linzy - yes. i have been to the psychiatrist one month after giving birth. She was young and not married.I was asked to describe the problem to her, and i did. But I didnt feel the connection with her and didnt go back after since. You talked about appearance.. i must admit that ever since i have given birth, i dressed shabbily since i am mostly at home.Even if we did go out, i did not wear any make up. It was a fast and go event for me as my bb alway cling on me.Shower? yep..i cant have one till my husband come back..thats a gd tip on bringing the bb with me when i shower hi kimba15 - thanks for your great advice. Though my mum lived next block to me,she is of limited help, so baby sitter is a no no. unlike US, its hard to find a baby sitter here.Had quit my job to be a stay home mum, given the current economy, its also hard to find a part time job these days. my husband prefer me to stay at home rather than to ferry to & fro my bb to the nanny. We are financially quite ok (i didnt spent much), its the interaction part i am lacking. hi kmum - maybe you are right, i dun have to be a perfect mum. i freak alot about not taking good care of him. Worried about his nutrient intake and everything (when i am preg, i vowed to breastfeed my bb till 2 years old, the plan failed cos of my depression - and i am feeling so guilty about it) hi GloriaD - thanks for the clip. Its very inspiring

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Re: Teaching Children About Nutrition

ohh..there is another way Jamie uses - He showed them how commerial chicken nuggets were being made. chicken skins, parts of the meat that people usually throw away - they were blended, added with artificial food flavourings etc. The sign of the blended meat is just too gross for the schooling kids. Jamie also taught them how to cook real, tasty and nutritious chicken meal...I guess this works. So from today onwards, get your older kids to involve in your cooking. Bet they will appreciate more in this learning process
