I've read How To Teach Your Baby To Read from the library. It was one from the 60's. We have the Little Reader and Little Math programs so I don't know if I need those books. I want two get a couple but I don't know which ones for their ages. Lily is almost 13 months and Kevin is 2 1/2.

Thank you guys! The closet doors in their playroom are all mirror so we've started playing with it a lot. Both of my kids like it! What all do you do with it?

Are you going to buy the preschool curriculum for your 13 month old?
I bought the preschool curriculum today. My 2 1/2 year old loved it but I didn't think to let my 12 month old do it. It's not laminated yet and everything goes in her mouth. It's a lot of cutting and tracing too so I don't know how much of it she'd be able to do now.

Oh yeah, we have Leap Frog videos too. My son learned all the phonics sounds from them.

I'm a stay at home Mom and I'm always with the kids. I get to be on the computer for maybe 30 minutes a day and not much time to plan lessons. I already bought the Horizon preschool curriculum and I use YBCR, YBCD, Little Reader, Little Math, we rent Signing Time DVDs and Preschool Prep and we have a lot of puzzles, crafts and stuff to use but I get so lost thinking of what to do each day. I spent close to $1,000 already on this stuff. It's money well spent but I'd like to use what I have and not buy more. I also have the Marshmallow math book but no time to read it. Oh and ABCmouse.com my son loves it!

Friday I made a sight word parking lot (I got the idea off Pinterest) and I put all new words for my 2 year old to find and drive his cars on. I'm looking for things like that that teach them while having fun. My daughter Lily is 1 and I just let her watch the programs and play with her and sometimes count her cheerios or just talk to her while I cook/clean and tell her what I'm doing. My 2 year old Kevin likes things that he can play with and touch. He loves ABCmouse.com. He likes to help cook and clean. My mom makes realistic baby dolls and made one for Lily's 1st birthday. The doll is anatomically correct and wears a diaper and Kevin brought me the baby and said "She pooped pizza". He likes saying what food he pooped, anyway, I showed him how to change her diaper and he really liked that.

How do you set up your curriculum's for each each day? Are you just creative or do have a schedule you follow for each thing?

I'm not just asking what learning shows but all the shows they get to watch.
My kids watch Little Math and Little Reader, Your Baby Can Read, Your Baby Can Discover, Sparkabilities (The YouTube videos), Blue's Clues, Super Why, Preschool Prep, Signing Time and some faith based character building shows.

My 2 year old, Kevin really likes Taratabong right now. He loves everything with cars, monster trucks and trains. His favorite show is a History channel documentary about monster trucks.

When my husband is home he lets them watch anything they want. That's how Kevin found out about the car shows on the Roku.

Once the "click here to continue" screen comes up they lose interest in the whole thing. They don't like me to talk at all because I distract them from it.   They'd rather have me show them flash cards but I paid for this program and want it to work for us. We're only on day 17 and they are very bored of it. 

Is there a way to have the lessons play or repeat on their own without the "Click here to continue"?

We went back and found all except one had been opened. They all had dirt and one had a wad of hair in it! They sent them all back as soon as we showed them. We bought the one that was sealed and I just got done washing them. I still don't see what could go wrong for them.

Last night we went to ToysRUs so get some balls for it and I inspected them in the car and notices they were not sealed and had dirt, mud and even a leaf on them so we will be exchanging them tonight but I also noticed it said it was for ages 4 and up... My kids are one and two. I can't think of why they can't play with them other then the fact that those ones looked like they had been returned by someone. They're too big to choke on and have no pieces. What could happen? I'm also not going to be leaving them alone with them.
I looked it up but I can't find reason for it.

I saw an ad for it and now I'm curious. Does it work for adults?

My daughter is turning one next week and I know I want to get her a toy... Maybe the Little People princess castle but I also wanted to get her a learning thing that's affordable. Maybe a DVD or something that price for a one year old. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I got this idea from the Your Baby Can Read instruction video. He said to sit with your baby in front of a mirror and move your mouth and tongue in different ways with you baby... Later I saw a video about Montessori teaching and they briefly showed a lady and a baby sitting with a mirror. I think they were doing that. Where can I find more information on that. I know it sounds really simple but... I like knowing I'm doing it right.
