Wow, imagine if it had been at a different time of day and you had been sleeping and not smelled it. It could have been a much different story. Hopefully it won't be expensive to fix, but at least no one was injured and nothing irreplaceable was destroyed. My prayers will be with you.

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Your opinions on Import organization and folders

I see that there are going to be subfolders, great! That will be wonderful.
I currently organize my folders by the 10 divisions of encyclopedic knowledge: Mathematics Art Geography Literature Language Science Biology Music Human Physiology History
Then I also have a Reading (Word Flash) Category, A story category, A poetry category, a song category, a bible category and Spanish and French categories (which I'd like to make subcategories in language).
This works well for me so if I try to do encyclopedic knowledge type program I can show one slide show from each category, but it will be great when there are subfolders to neaten everything up.

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Request-sub folders

Little reader is such a great product. Thanks. However, I was wondering if when the next release of little reader came out it might be possible to have sub-folders? For instance I have a geography folder but with in it I'd like to make a subset of retired geography playlists/categories. Or within my biology I would like folders for animals/plants etc. If not that's okay I can work around it, but I am an organizational nut so if it is possible it would be much appreciated. Thanks, again!

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: What happens once they reach school age?

My dream is to homeschool my son. In the next 1-2 years I hope to take a more flexible job so I can devote myself more fully to it. I was reading anything I could get my hands on by the age of 3 and stayed ahead, as a result I was bored stiff in school. Although I got all A's and was valedictorian I was a horrible student. I would find ways to get out of class so I didn't have to go; I would memorize things the night before the test, ace it, and then forget everything; or myself and each of my friends would just do a portion of the homework and then combine the answers. School was just an exercise in tedium as far as I was concerned. Anyway here I am years hence and now I am interested in learning things, and I lament the opportunities I missed. I think if I could be the one to teach my son in a joyous way then instead of him seeing school as something to get through he will see it as an opportunity to satiate his appetite for knowledge and enjoying learning how to become a lifelong learner. Not to mention I want to be there to see him learn these things (and perhaps pick up some things I missed myself).

I feel the same way even though I knew about it all before he was born I was so slow making cards I feel like he never really "got" the math program and although my son can recognize words I really thought he would be reading now. I wish I had been more organized because now I feel like some opportunities are gone for good.

Yes, I don't tel anyone about our program. My parents are aware of it only on a very superficial level. they have seenthe word and dot flash cards and Blasie has impressed them by reading some of his words. But I know that the remainder of my friends, family and co-workers would say I was hot-housing my son. I would rather avoid their disapproving looks so I keep it private although luckily my husband is 100% on-board.

We also sing math songs like one, two, three, four, five once I caught a fish alive..., 1 2 buckle my shoe..., 1 potato 2 potato etc my son is good at identifying how many of something there is but not great at verbally sequencing his numbers so I'm hoping to make it automatic. We even have a CD of addition facts
Also telling him to go get me four balls or two magnets things like that.
