Thank you all for your input. It is much appreciated and very helpful. I think I am first going to give herthe keyboard and let her have fun with it. Showing her all the c's: do. And showing her how they sound alike. Then so on with all the notes. She likes to sing, do, ray, me... Right now. Lol. It's super cute! She doesn't know she is getting a keyboard for her birthday, but she "reads" the books I have checked out from the library right now on how to play.

My friend has her daughter on it because she is pretty under weight for her age. The doctor said she should be drinking 4 a day!! But her mom is not forcing her to drink it or it she wouldn't even be drinking enough water. So I guess ask your doctor how much he should be drinking, but make sure he has still water of course. Probably give it to him until he starts to put on more weight. Just in case he starts eating again but then gets sick some more. Really do whatever you feel is best : )

It is sweet tasting, but not very much. Ive tasted it. But you may think it is super sweet because he has never had anything artificially sweetened. If he is loosing weight then I would definatly give it to him. His body needs the nutrition to help fight off the illness. Hope your son gets well soon

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Quizing with the math dot cards?
|
on: June 10, 2010, 05:23:23 AM

I have a few questions: will I confuse my baby if all of the dot cards are flashed on the computer and when I start quizing her I then use physical flash cards? When do I start quizing? And when I quiz do I just show the answer? Or do I flash each individual card as I say it? I would look up some past posts, but I kinda pressed for time right now. Thanks ladies.

So I am reading some books on how to play piano and keyboard. I am starting to learn to read music. Having a good time : ) so I think I am waiting until I give Dakota give her keyboard to start teachin her. So when I flash notes I can also play it. I'm just not sure about one thing, do I call all c's c. And all d's d, and so on. Or are there different names for each note? Or maybe you just know they are higher or lower because of where they are the stave? I'm not sure. I want to teach her the name of the note. And once we get to a place where we can get her some formal lessons we will. Or maybe get her aunt to teach her, she has taken a lot of music classes, for guitar and singing. She writes her own music, it's beauiful! And she's 16! Anyway, just an update. I am also going to be doing the suggestions from childandme.com fo doman method of teaching music

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Re: Learning language while you sleep

Since we are on the subject of learning while you sleep. My husband and I were talkng the other day. I tried to do the doman math dots with my oldest daughter, but it was too late. She will be 3 in august. So I have been doing other simple math games and activities with her. And my husband remembers memorizing a times table chart when he was a kid. And he asked if it would be crazy to record myself listing the times tables and playing it while my daughter is asleep. Is this crazy? Would that be pushing too much? We are still only working on adding and subtracting. I've talked to her about multiplication, division, fractions and other things. But she is not ready yet to do the calculations. What do y'all think?

So true. I sometimes want to call my mom and thank her for being such a good mother to my siblings and I. Because sometimes I just have no more patience for kids, !!! Terrible twos!!! Lol. And still no crawling yet. But Avery has now taken a step without holding onto anything. I just keep trying to encourage her to do the cross pattern crawling.
