EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Teaching music

Great videos, patreiche! The circle of fifths is extremely useful for songwriters, it's almost like a cheat sheet for coming up with chord structures! The Music Theory 101 video was really simple and easy to understand too, and we actually have a series of lessons planned that are very similar to the Music Theory 101 video that we're working on right now. Keep the videos coming Shuki

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Need help - How to copy English Course Curriculum?
|
on: October 16, 2009, 02:24:19 AM

Hi Nadia09! I was actually thinking about this very idea a little earlier, and came up with this: 1. Download and import the full English Curriculum. 2. Navigate to My Documents\BrillKids\Little Reader and make a copy of the entire Little Reader folder and its contents (note that this may take up at least 170mb!) 3. Rename that folder to "Little Reader - English" 4. You may now run Little Reader and translate the entire curriculum into Russian! Because LR will always look for its media files at the path "My Documents\BrillKids\Little Reader", when you want to teach english, simply rename your now Russian curriculum to "My Documents\Little Reader - Russian" or something similar, and revert "Little Reader - English" to just "Little Reader". Remember to CLOSE LR before renaming your folders, or you may damage your media library!Hope that helps, Shuki

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: New version: Font options & gif animations
|
on: September 30, 2009, 03:09:26 AM
|
Hi Stellajo, Currently LR doesn't have the ability to handle .gif animations, bold, italic, or underlining, but changing the font colour for a specific word in a sentence is doable. Simply select Split Mode from the PLAYBACK SETTINGS tab in PLAYBACK, and then decide the colours for Split Mode. For example, if you choose red and blue as the split colours and then type the sentence: Yesterday, I went to the /park/ and played with Mummy! It will display as: Yesterday, I went to the park and played with Mummy!Hope that helps! shuki

Hey chispa, I'm so sorry to hear that, I can't imagine how awful you must feel. Know that you're definitely not alone, we're all here and rootin' for ya! I'm not knowledgeable at all on medical issues, but I'll be sending lots and lots of positive thoughts and energy. I hope you're feeling better about and have come across a solution. May this week be much, much better than the last. shuki ... and of course, karma to you!

BrillKids Software / HOW TOs and FAQs / Re: Have a Question That Isn't Answered Here?

Hi Frukc, If you want to keep the original, you can import the file again, selecting "RENAME" for all conflict resolution options. This way you will create a duplicate Category that you can edit as required. Currently there is no way to import multiple files at the same time. Cheers, shuki

Hi Frukc, Changing words is actually just a couple of clicks more in Little Reader, and once the words are set up, you can create completely different presentations using those words much, much faster than in PowerPoint! To change words in Little Reader: - Select the Category whose words you want to change. - Double-click on the Word you want to change from the Word List. - In the Edit Word window, you will see a textbox at the top containing the word. Simply click here to change the word. - Click Save to save the word. That's all there is to it. Cheers, shuki

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Sharing LR with others/installing on multiple computers

Hi Laurence,
To make the program more streamlined and simpler for parents, Little Reader currently does not allow users the ability to determine where their Media Library resides (the location is stored as a direct path to My Documents).
Also, because we will also be restructuring the way Little Reader content is delivered and stored in version 2, there are no plans to extend that functionality under the current framework. Technically speaking, if we allowed users to choose where the Media Library was drawn from, it would be functional.
Cheers, Shuki

BrillKids Software / HOW TOs and FAQs / Re: FAQ: The Flash Card Mode
|
on: August 19, 2009, 02:36:16 AM

Hi Skylark, The answer is right above your post You can save print layouts to PDF and transfer these PDF files to either a flash drive or a CD; most if not all print shops nowadays will print PDF files. There are many free utilities that will allow you to print to PDF files readily available online, if you do not have Adobe Acrobat. Cheers, if you have any further questions, do let me know. Good luck! Shuki
