EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / When did your babies learn numerals and quantities?
|
on: January 10, 2013, 11:23:53 AM
|
I would like to ask you how long did it take you to teach your babies numerals and quantities... I've been working with LM and playing games with my twins for 4 months now. They are 16 months old by now. The girl recognizes numerals up to four and can (sometimes) also recognize quantities... 1 and 2 for sure, 3 and 4 I'm not sure if she really knows or it is just a coincidence (the boy speaks much less than her, so I have no idea about what he is learning). But they seem to progress more on reading, so I was wondering if I should be doing something else... Any advice will be welcome, thanks a lot!

I am sooooo happy!!! : I managed to get a video as well . Does anyone know when the Spanish curriculum for Little Reader will be available? My twins like soooo much YBCR in Spanish, I can't wait to have LR!!

Downloads + Collaborations Discussions / General Collaborations / Re: Spanish speaker for SALSA LR files

Hi Cokers4life, I've just downloaded your SALSA files, very nice job!!! Could I make just a couple of suggestions? We do not say "la agua" but "el agua", it is made in order to avoid the repetition of the vowel, although "agua" is indeed feminine and for the plural we would say "las aguas". And "plántano" does not exist, its "plátano" without the n. I will show your files to my twins tomorrow, I like your pictures very much!! Thank you!

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: They're afraid of animals in LR--Help!

Thank you for all your suggestions, I will try them all... I've noticed that she has a problem with big, moving animals as well... I showed them a video of dolphins in youtube, and she was scared as well... On the other hand, we can see sheep from our window and she loves that... maybe that's the problem, she's used to see the animals far from us and suddenly they are sooooo close... By the way A_BC, I saw the video with your toddler reading in four languages!!! Really impressive, congratulations!! You both have a very good Spanish accent!

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / They're afraid of animals in LR--Help!

We started with LR some weeks ago and everything was going fine, but suddenly my twins, especially the girl, started being afraid of some of the animals pictures and videos in Little Reader (specially goats, sheep and cows, don't ask me why...). They start to shout and cry as soon as they appear on the screen. Has this happened to you? What did you do? For the moment I'm only showing them some categories (they like action words), but I would like to go on with the curriculum!! Any ideas?? Thank you!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Reading new words at 14 mo???
|
on: November 07, 2012, 08:33:18 AM

I wanted to share with you what happened this morning with my 14 mo little girl. I have been teaching her and her twin brother for two months. We use Little Reader for English and my own Doman cards and powerpoints for Spanish. They can read "mamá", "papá", "caca" and other words that I've shown them, and they usually choose the correct one between two options if I ask them to. But this morning my father told me, "have you taught L. how to read this?" (it was a toothpaste box). Of course not, nobody has! Well, she said "iaca" (it said (binaca)). I asked her to read it for me and she said again "iaca". Of course it could be a coincidence, but what a coincidence!!! I don't know if she's reading by herself or not... anyway, this is really exciting!!

Hola Caroltwins!

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Editing English curriculum to Spanish and saving both?
|
on: October 14, 2012, 08:54:19 PM
|
Hi, I want to teach by babies English with LR, but we're Spanish and I would like to create exactly the same curriculum in Spanish. Is there a way to copy whole English curriculum and save it with another name, then edit word by word? If not, which is the fastest way to duplicate the curriculum? You must have answered to things like this a thousand times, I apologise for that. Thank you very much in advance!

Parents' Lounge / Introduce Yourself / Hi everybody... new to LR and teaching twins!

Hello everybody!! How I wish I would have found you some years ago!! I have an 8 year-old girl who learnt to read at four-five, phonetically. Now I have 13 months old twins, a boy and a girl, and I started a month ago with Doman-like cards. We have also started quantity recognition with cards. But preparing the cards is really time consuming, so I'm just starting with LR, both in English and Spanish (we live in Spain).
I just wanted to tell you that all your comments are really inspiring and encouraging, I will closely follow this forum!!!
