How long do you usually use a DVD for? I just ordered the first BST DVD, but I'm not sure if I should have gotten a couple more. How do you know the baby is done with the DVD? My daughter is only for months so I'm just getting the materials for when she turns 6 months.

Dear MTB999, WOW! EXCELLENT! And how did you set this up, please? Because it seems to be a huge timesaver! And in fact, now that I am thinking about it - where were you when I first created the spreadsheet, working all night to key in the words for the daily sets? I want to learn how to do this, please! Thanks. Ayesha Ayesha, It is actually very easy. You only need to put the equal (=) sign in the cell you want the information to be copied (let's call it cell B) and with the mouse just click on the cell that you want to copy (Let's call it cell A) This one has the original word. Everytime you change the word in cell A it automaticly changes the word on cell B. I hope this is clear enough. I know the questions was not for me, but I thought I could help

We are teaching my daughter both languages. Most of the time I speak and read to her in Spanish and my husband speaks and reads to her in English. However, when we are surrounded by people that only speak English I speak to her in English. We want her in the long run to know that she will speak the language of the people she is with at that moment. We came to this conclusion because my mother-in-law only speaks English and she gets very upset when I speak to anyone on Spanish and she doesn't know what is going on. This is very common. People tent to be unconfortable when they do not know what people are saying. They think you are talking about them (usually they think is something bad you don't want them to know ) Again this is something we decided with my husban based on experience, but that is it. We hope it works, but only time will tell. We hope she is going to do it because we'll explain to her why we do it and that we need to be nice and polite to people. Good luck! PS. We also do flash cards in both languages.

Wow! This looks great! Thank you so much for sharing. This definetly helps. I have a couple of questions. How do you manage the date once you start retiring words? I got a little bit confused there. How did you pick the words? I just starting reading Doman's book, so the answer may be there, but just in case. Thanks again!

Good link.
When visitors came, we removed the stick ons and put in a plastic folder with many plastic sheets, so the glue was intact, re-usable.
What kind of stick ons did you use? I used some double 3m patch and they really stick to everything and once I try to remove them half of the patch doesn't come off For the other people that want to do this, I would recomend to use matte lamimator pouches intead of the glossy. I did the glossy and once everything is up it reflects a little bit.

Does anybody have created a excel sheet for a daily reading schedule? If so, would you be willing to share it? I'm still very confused about the whole retiring flash cards method and thought that a schedule may help, but I do not know how to put it together since I do not quite understand the concept.
Thanks!

I just checked both websites and the ones you recommended have more signs per video. Some of the BST DVD's are around US$15 in amazon.com and the ST are about US$20, but if your oder is more than US$25 they do free shipping.
Great post! Thanks to evrybody!

No, I actually bought non-BST flash cards (before my son was born) so that I could learn some signs. I wish that I would have just bought the DVDs initially, instead of buying the flash cards, because they cost as much as the 3 DVDs would have cost. Gabriel didn't sign back to me, even after I signed to him for several months. He didn't start signing until we watched the videos. He has learned his signs (I have lost count, maybe 80 or 90 by now?) from the videos, not from me. We watch them together, and I learn the signs right along with him. I help him make the signs, and he tries to do some on his own.
So, I don't see where the flash cards are necessary. All you need to do is watch the videos with your child, and he/she will learn a great deal from them. The flash cards that I bought were great for teaching me the signs, but I could have just as easily watched the DVDs to learn them while my son did the same, instead of months of signing to him with no results. I am certain that, if I would have started showing the videos at 6 months, instead of at 12 months, he would have been signing much sooner. He started signing almost immediately after we watched the first video a couple of times.
Thank you so much for the information! My mother-in-law gave my daughter the Baby Signs Program and we were waiting for her to turn 6 months to start using it. I just checked it and there are not DVD's in the set. There are little books and the magnetized flip-card and a DVD with only 6 signs. I just checked their website and they do have DVD's for sale. I was wondering if someone has use this program so that way I can decide if I should buy their DVD's and complete this program or just get the ST or BST DVD's? Any suggestions? Thanks!
