This question relates to parenting at an early age - right from birth:

Do you feel that you must have a vision for your baby? e.g., My baby is intelligent like Einstein/strong like Hanuman?

More specifically, would you feel that it is useful(for you or baby) or does condition the child into set patterns and stiffle their free development?

I've been onto brillbaby for 3 months now and rarely had a problem. Speed too has been satisfactory; no complaints. I use firefox on xp.

Also do write abt. technology powering the site.

many of us who are not so prolific as nhockaday but would wish that her score doesn't remain just on paper - may be we can trade the points for bucks so the hardwork is rewarded too(time spent on brillbaby is always worhwhile though...)

I must say my DH has been very supportive and even takes active interest in such matters. That makes the whole journey so interesting and burdenless.

Indeed blessed are the mothers whose husbands take to equal participation.

Sometimes I feel: we become parents without much of a preparation. Whether a coaching must be made compulsory before entering parenthood....

I'm 26 now and my first son is now 6 months. I'm hoping and quite insistent that this will be the only kid while my DH says that we must not stop at just one.

Feeding on demand would be the right way because they are the boss ; let them drive as they decide and generally their instincts turn out to be right (unless they are under excessive medication -  as it happened when my 18-week baby was on antibiotics and I found his appetite greatly increased).

So you have to make some sacrifice by obeying when he demands. That would be the right approach I'd  say by my experience.

Once we as parents know something that is happening is not correct, is there someway it can be conveyed to the baby so that he doesnot pick up the same?

Or should we wait for the long term so that he will let go anything wrong he would have picked up?

Yesterday I made it to the introductory pgm. of ISP.It was arranged by a lady who has benefitted from this pgm. She has a 20-month old boy and she was all praise for the pgm. She shared her experiences with the group that had gathered there.
The introduction was exactly what their website say about ISP(http://rsvk.org/content/category/5/21/38/).
In brief: It is a summary of DOman's research integrated with inculcating Indian values and traditions.

I was obviously very pleased to hear all of this. Mr Shailesh, who will be conducting the pgm. over 9-sessions, told us that the contents will be relevant until child is 8 yrs. old.

I was surprised to know one more thing abt. ISP programs - Mr Shailesh has been conducting ISP in Bangalore for over 3-yrs now and I have not heard a word about it in the media.

Well, those interested can still contact him because the first session was an introductory one(everything covered in the website).

I enquired the local ISP co-ordinator at Bengalur. I've been told a fresh batch of ISP training is scheduled to begin on : Sunday 29.03.2009 at 4pm.
The person on the line didnot give out any details except about course structure/content , fees ...etc to say that if you attend the first session, all your queries will be answered automatically.

I'm going to check out this weekend.

My son is nearly 6-months now and I thank Suteja very much for introducing me to Brillbaby website. I live in Bangalore and I'm happy to have found such an enlightening group of parents to connect to.

I'm myself keen on providing a variety of learning experiences to my child while at the same time providing an  education rooted in Indian values. The ISP-course looks really promising in that sense. I'd like to try it for sure and then share my experiences.
