thanks again, while my daughter napped, i was able to take a quick look at the nekin site you sent, it's very funny! i guess i should have researched more before asking my dad to get them for me for new year's. oh well. i don't think the kubiki will hurt. in any case, the longer one researches these things, the less time is spent actually teaching. time is so short. a two hour nap, and an hour and a half before i go to bed at night myself. i didn't realize that the kubiki would require so much work. i read on some site about filling them and so on.. thanks again for your input. i am sorry to hear about your daughter's troubles, maybe it's because she is bilingual? i am sure you know of this line of thought. cheers, liza

one more thing. would the people who use little math say that it is enough to just follow the program or would you recommend using the files available for download. how would i know which order to follow? would i just follow the same order as the little math program augmenting some days with the available material? i don't know why, but the math program just seems a lot more confusing than the reading one to me. any suggestions are welcome, liza

that's an interesting observation. one would think that something akin to this is happening with the doman method as well. children learn to sight read words, they are also discouraged from learning letters and phonemes. in any case, i'll give it a try and see if she likes them more than the flashcards. what are you doing as far as reading is concerned? thanks for bringing up interesting points, liza

khatty, it's nice to read of someone who went through what we are going through. my husband thinks it's my fault for spoiling my daughter, but i still breastfeed too, and my daughter who is 19 months now has never slept through the night. this makes life somewhat difficult and lately she has started waking up every 2 hours, 12, 2, 4, 6, 8. it might be her teeth but that is an old card to play. in any case, i take solace in that during the day she is a great kid and that once i decide to give up breastfeeding, things will get better. was weening hard? my daughter took well to not drinking milk during the day but i am afraid of the night weening process. liza

You are probably right. Patience i s really a virtue as far as our kids are concerned. Sara, my daughter is much too interested in taking the mouse or some other contraption away instead of focusing on the words. Hopefully, Zaizev's cubes will help fix that since they seem like more fun. What are some bad things that you've heard in relation to their use? As far as our names, I lived in Latin America for some years and there I had no trouble whatsoever with my name but here in the US it's the other way around. The default option is the wrong one in my and your daughter's case. I always knew that we should have moved to Europe instead Liza

hi lmsmum, thanks for the suggestions. i have looked at the pelenki series, but it seems that one can make that style material oneself. it's not interactive at all. my father has just purchased the kubiki zaizeva, he is in russia and who knows when they'll get here. have you heard of them? i am sure if you've read the danilova site, you are familiar with this method as well. i haven't had any success to report yet. of course, i have only been showing flashcards of my own making for a week and a half, i guess i am inpatient. my daughter doesn't really care for them either. i might have to get the little reader and try that out. any experience with this program? thanks, liza p.s. yes, i like my name too but not necessarily the way it's pronounced in english. had i known, i would have made it leeza. cheers

thanks so much. i knew about tahini, actually, you can just grind up some sesame seeds yourself, in a coffee grinder, and make it. if you were an organics freak that is. since most tahini available isn't organic and seeds really seem to concentrate everything. i have also been putting some brewers yeast on my daughter's food. a sprinkle here and there when she isn't looking. this doesn't work when she wants to eat from my plate though. also, to her oatmeal i sometimes add some goat colostrum. just in case it helps, right

hi guys, i was wondering what you chose to feed your children. specifically one and a half year olds, or older. i always try to get her to eat organic, and this is what we all end up eating since my daughter much prefers to eat off my plate. it's like she doesn't trust me to give her something as good as what i am having. she is right of course, when she was smaller i could get away with all sorts of nutritious stuff. anyway, any suggestions for healthy food a toddler will eat? thanks, liza

this may not be too helpful, but some babies just don't sleep through the night. for example, my daughter. she is 19 months old and is still waking up EVERY night. we are sick and tired of it, of course, but considering that there is nothing wrong with her, and the eternal teeth may or may not be to blame, i've just given up so to say and feed her every time she wakes up. i am assuming that once i stop breastfeeding, at two, she will stop waking up too. this is what happened to a good friend of ours. as soon as the milk dried up they started having better nights.

hi, i might have read something about this in a different post, but i don't remember where that was so if anyone would be so nice as to share the sites they use as treats (educational of course) for the little ones, it would be greatly appreciated. for example, my daughter really likes http://www.youtube.com/user/Myvoxsongs and http://www.youtube.com/user/omigradbut sometimes i would like to show her a short clip of something else and youtube just has an avalanche of things, so if there are any clips that you have really enjoyed, please share. thanks, liza

how long would you say the dots part of the little math is intended for? my daughter is 19 months old now, and i am planning to get the program in about a month or so, would it be worth it still? what else is included there? i should probably just download the trial version and see how she takes to it, right? thanks, liza

thanks for the website, i already had it bookmarked, but haven't actually gotten down to using it. have you yourself used it? are you teaching your daughter russian? i am, for now, sticking to doing the flashcards myself but any help would be great. i have also looked at sites teaching russian to adults, but those seem too interested in translating everything from english, since they assume that one is an english speaker to begin with. something made for babies is much much better. thanks, liza

thanks so much for the information. i have been showing my daughter words for a week and a half now. it is hard to know whether any of it is sinking in since most of the time we are fighting about the computer, where she just wants to click and touch things and since testing isn't really allowed by doman, right? so, i guess i'll just continue retiring and adding new words and see how we go from there. liza

hi lappy, thanks for your prompt reply. i didn't actually see the info until i had posted my question. sorry. i do have one more question though. for the sale on the products that is dependent on the 100 posts and so on, are you counting the posts or the points or something else like that? i am a little bit confused. i remember seeing 100 posts here and 50 posts at the parenting sign, with no points being mentioned. why do we need the points in the first place? thanks again, liza
