I purchased my board book blanks from www.oreintaltrading.com, measured my book, then used power point to create my book, glued the odd pages on then laminating them by folding over a little on each side then glued the even pages on then laminted them but with no fold over. I used elmers glue that I brushed on. I allow it to dry for an hour under a bunch of books for weight. However you can use a sketch pad or a spiral book that has heavy cardstock pages that are blank. Just print and glue your pages on and you can even laminate. I also have purchased a kit that makes board books but you have to laminate them. I got word back from a publisher who is willing to publish board books for us!!!!! All that I am waiting on is his confirmation on the price. So cross your fingers.

Here are the pictures of the board book that I created that IS waterproof. It isn't bad for my very first creation of a total board books. I used my own drawing and content and I used markers and crayons. Markers work better. I also used laminate to water proof the book. My toddler has already tested the book out and he loved it. Also I made the book where my son can use a dry erase marker and actually practice printing his letters. The marker wipes right off!
I am in the process of creating a photo board book with my children as the stars. Once completed I will show the pics.

I love creating pop up mini books for my toddler, but make them sturdy if you are dealing with a toddler. Mine loves to rip them off even if I am right there holding the book. We are working on book manners also. Pop ups are a great way to teach about animals and so on, I also like hidden door books, sensory books, and so on. We love all that stuff if I can teach my toddler not to be mean to the books that I spend days making for him.
Here is a template to make a pop up information book, like making a report. Cut the dashed lines and fold the dotted lines, then add a picture of an animal or whatever, then write about it below.

to me a good preschool teacher recognizes the needs of each individual child, and meets those needs. Someone who understand them and their wants, likes, dislikes, and abilities. Someone who never critises them for being them or from where they came from. I have worked in several preschools and it is said to say that i have run across some that i wish i hadn't have. A teacher should never yell or scold a child in front of another child. I have seen where a child constently had a problem with urinating on him self the teacher would scold and yell at him in front of all his peers, remarking that she was tired of changing him. That boiled my blood. Come to find out the child had a kidney infection. So that to me isn't a very good teacher. Of course this is all my opionions. A teacher should be able to modify the content for each child fitting their emotional, physical, spiritual, and metal needs.

Thank you for the encouraging words. I have about 2 weeks to prepare for moving so I am going to place his new bed in tomorrow where daddy and granny will be here to help me keep an eye on him at night. I hope he sleeps well. Now I can give his old crib to his little brother, he's crib isn't as nice as big brothers. Thank you all for helping me and other moms.

Thanks for finding the time to contact them for us. Too bad. Sounds like a nice home business for you if you figure out an easy and affordable way to do it. Being in the bush of Alaska - it would cost me a fortune to print things out in color and to purchase all the supplies. Shipping is so expensive here.
I've just been using Little Reader for that very reason but wishing I could print out some of my powerpoint presentations and laminate them. I'm also ready to start making books with my son as the star - using a digital camera. But way too expensive to print out. I'll have to get to a craft store this summer when I go down to the lower 48 and see what I can afford to stock up on......
Once I get everything completed to make some and well, I can make them for you. i don't know about the shipping to Alaska but we can check on that. You can send me a power point file, that is when i get good enough in making the books. It only cost 0.35 cents a page here in KY for color prints. I will be glad to help you out, if interested. While I was googling this morning I found a person who made their own craft board books.
A suggestion they made was to buy cheap children's board books -eg. from a book discounter - and stick your pages over them! You could probably buy them around $3-5 each.
With regards to waterproofing - place clear contact (sticky plastic cover for books - don't know the US equivalent name, sorry) over your pages to waterproof them. You don't need to pay extra for acid free pages that craft stores sell unless you're intending on archiving the books.
I think that's what I'll do unless someone can find a cheaper alternative!!
Cheers, mtb999
I am trying that as we speak actually, thank you. I will let you know how it works about the contact paper. Also I have thought about taking old torn or faded board books and placing the paper over them, good idea to recycle old books. I can buy books here for 4/$1.00 at our local dollar store, so that's a good idea. Thanks. I think that maybe I will try to empliment the idea of making board books for people in our ministry. We have a ministry that sends our books to children all over the world for free. i use card stock and ofcourse the premade board books.

i don't know about polish, but I have a 20 month old and he loves flashcards but I only do them 1 time a day, i have certain days for reading, math, spelling, etc. I have found out that different colored flashcards help, having flashcards on shower curtain rings, sometimes it is how you present the flashcards like the shape, color, size, etc ( i have even made car shaped flashcards for my son loves cars, sometimes its all about the looks), also the power point software allows you to do slide show presentations and then play them back. I record my slide show presentations on my camcorder and play them in my DVD player for my son to watch during the day. You can also record online videos, books and more that way. It works great. Instead of TV all the time you can create your own TV shows. I hope this helps. ALso you can do what is called a word wall. My son loves a word wall poster in his room and in his hands. By the way certain colors can also effect the interest of a child, look up more on color therapy. It has helped me.
