Hi everyone,

I'm still trying to figure out how to do this. I printed some of the flash cards and also downloaded the lite LR to try it. I have been doing the LR three times a day for three categories. Sometimes I use pp presentations I have created or downloaded, but not everyday. The paper flash cards I have been using when we are out of town. I'm not sure if the LR presentation replace the flash cards and the pp presentations or if I'm supposed to do all of them everyday.

Thanks!

Just a quick question. Does anybody know if it matters to do the labeling in capital or lower case letters?

Does anybody know if it would matter to have different voices in one pp presentation when creating a bilingual presentation?  confused

Thanks!

KL,

Thank you so much for our board! Just one think, it is spell incorrectly. It is COLOMBIA, not Columbia, both are "o"  blush

Thanks again!

Hi Luckumommy1307,

The way I saw this is that it may be easier for them to realize that it is one object but with different names and since you are doing the slides with the same order for the languages my guess (and it is only a guess) they brain will pick which words belong to which language. As Gloria said it may sound confusing and  crazy for us, but maybe not to their brains.

We need more feedback!  LOL

Gloria,

Hi KL,

Yes, I have checked them out. See I had thought of something different. I thought we could create kind of a topic where we would agree on specific categories we were going to translate for ex. that week, but we will take slide by slide and try to get that same slide translate in different languages. People could select which languages they were teaching their kids and use the slides they need. I came up with this base on the idea on teaching my daughter three languages by doing word, word, word and picture. All the resources we can find here are wonderful, I just though I would be easier to have the same words by category in one place. (I'm not sure if this makes sense  blink )

Anyways, I looks like I only got one volunteer so far for chinese, so I may work with her to see how this works.

Thank you for following up!

Thank you so much for the link. This is exactly what I was looking for.
760  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Labeling objects at home on: March 20, 2009, 03:03:07 AM
My husband and I were talking about labeling stuff around the home. Right now I tour my baby around our house and I tell her what it is in English and Spanish, but we were thinking that it may help with her reading skills if we place tags with the words in both languages on the actaul "thing".

I would like to know if anybody has done this, if it worked or maybe get feedback from some of the experts that are part of the site.

Thanks!

GloriaD,

Another Colombian here!!! I have been living in Colorado for the last 8 and a half years. I'm glad to see more colombias in this side.

I can't wait for the COlombia Board  yes

Karma for everybody  LOL

764  EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: what to do with a 3month old! on: March 18, 2009, 11:22:28 PM
These are all great suggestions. My baby is 3 and a half months old. For me, mirrors (no glass mirrors) work wonders! My baby loves looking at herself in the mirror. I hanged one from the top of her play pen and she loves it. I started flash cards a couple of weeks ago and at the beggining she could not stop staring at the screen, but those times are over. She gets distracted very easy, so I decided to stop the flash cards for right now and start again maybe in about a month or so to see how she does. I may try the black and white flash cards first.

It seems that at this age what she loves the most is me talking to her, touring her around the house and singing to her. Even when she starts crying if I start singing she calms down and just listens to me and I have a horrible voice!

My daughter hates tummy time, but I just started to lay next to her and off course signing. She did 5 minutes today. I was very proud of her. I did nt pick her up as soon as she started fussyng and she got over it and kept going with her tummy time.

I'll try the soft toys to see how she does. So far she has not been too much into toys.

Great topic!

nhockaday,

Thank you so much for your input. We started when she was 3 months old because the HOP for baby says is for 3-18 months. At what age do you think children should start with a program like that? What is YBCR?

I have read in other forums about not using Baby Einstein, but they recommend other programs. What is your reasoning behind babies at that age not being exposed to tv? This is my first baby and I'm trying to figure out what I should and I shouldn't do.

Thanks!
