I do however believe that TV in moderation is OK. I have taught several children who actually learned spanish by watching Dora the Explorer. I use flashcards with my infant and my toddler, but they have computer time as well. I also record my power point presentations on my camcorder that makesa DVD and play them on the TV instead of using the computer monitor all the time. So their tiny hands don't touch the key board and mouse. But eventually I will train my child to type and use the mouse. My toddler can press the keys and make giberish on word he loves it. He thinks he is doing something great. Don't limit your child's abilities to do great with using a computer. So what if they become a computer geek as long as it doesn't harm the child by monitoring the time. We only spend 3 minutes on the computer anyway. But I think flashcards for my toddler works better. He likes to sit in his high chair after eating a read his flashcards. I hand him the flashcard and takes it from my hand and places it on his tray and then he picks it back up and hands it back to me. This is a routine that we do after each meal. He loves it. He even learned a new word today, marker. It is so great.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Using fluorescent colors when teaching kids

Certain colors can trigger disabilities that some children have. For example terrets syndrome, certain colors trigger this disease and make it worse. There are different colors that help with learning as well for children without diabiliies, look into color therapy. I stay away from red, and hues in the red family due to my experinceing with teaching that this color can make children nervous. The color of green aides in the help with asthma. There is a lot to using colors in teaching. I normally use green or blues.

Even though you switch to steel, or a metal container. those too are going into our bodies. I conducted a research about drinking from cans and my metal content along with others went sky rocket. After stop drinking from cans and went to water from the purified faucet mine and others metal content was almost gone. Even deoderant that has antiperspirent as aluminium in it. I just even heard in my state that some stores are dicontinuing selling baby clothes do to the lead found in the labels. Who would think? We have to resort to consignment shops to get clothing, then the worry of labels having to be cut out of clothing after purchase. I wonder of the juice pouches have BPA as well? My son loves to drink from those pouches. We never really know what we ingest. For instance the water here has flouride in it for our teeth. But flouride in high volumes does not need to be swallowed according to its label, it can cause sever stomach trouble, etc. So see no matter where we turn there is something in our items. Even eating from a can, and what about those fruit cups, and fruit pouches do they contain BPA? If you get to thinking about it some baby food containers are plastic, and the jars have metal lids.

The Animated Stories from Nest Entertainment. My husband bought the resource guide, activity books, and video set years ago. We have the vhs version but now they make the DVD version. But this is a great curriculum for homeschoolers, Sunday Schoolers, and more. I love the videos and the books contain lessons and activities for preschoolers and older children as well. Although it has become expensive now, I think my husband paid 300.00 back then for the entire set, Old and New Testament but check it out anyway. http://www.nestentertainment.com/childrens-bible-story_c1323.aspx

My husband ( pastor) is an awesome dad. He helps with both of my sons learning everyday. My toddler he takes on field trips, and he plays with him doing certain exercises before bed. My hubby does a lot for me with the kids. He actually help sme with the curriculum as well, for we make our own faithbased. My infant he sings to him, and of course exercise and his physical therapy. We make a really good team. And yes men can teach their children. I feel that his dad can teach him things that I can't teach him. My hubby is more active then i am, and he gets right down on the floor with him and wrestles and goes on and my toddler loves it. I on the other hand am more delicate.

Here is a link to a software (free web based planner) that is free to download it is a software that helps you to schedule your home school. Children can log into their daily calender that you have set for them. You can upload their work and they can send it back through the web. It is awesome! I love creating my schedule here and then logging in as my child and marking off the duties that he has done. You can print the schedule and more. It is how i have done my homeschool schedule and have documentation that we have covered everything that we need to. The site also includes home school curriculum. Check it out. http://www.home-school-inc.com/
