Parents' Lounge / Introduce Yourself / Hello from India

Hi all I have been peeping in and out for the past few months finally thought of introducing myself. I bumped into this site while surfing for early learning tips for my son. The sad part is I came to know all about early learning when he was nearing 2. Never had any idea or even thought that babies could be taught. Well, better late than never I am an engineer by profession, left the job to take care of our son. Now that was the toughest and now the happiest decision I ever made. I started with using homemade word cards, then to slideshows, now LR. I also have LM now. I would also like to thank all of you for replying to my threads. It has really really helped a lot to sort out issues.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Re: Playschool for one year old

Hi Priya
I also dealt with a similar situation...I put my son to the best daycare available in B'lore, very pricey, when he was 1.2 yr old. We thought it would be a good idea for him to be in the toddler group, he would learn, socialize, and so on. But to our shock, not only was our son crying for 5 hrs on end, not eating, but also fell ill. We cannot understand what was going on as he cannot speak. This went on for 2 weeks, so we decided to pull him off. So I would say being with the grandparents until he can speak would be a good option.

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / When did you wean your child?
|
on: March 17, 2009, 08:55:58 AM

To start with, I am still breast feeding my son usually at bedtime and if he cries for it. I have started getting comments like are you still breast feeding? My son has never been bottle fed, as he strongly dislikes it. He is having normal food and activities. By next June he will be joining school. So when should I wean? I was just wondering how old was your child when you weaned him/her off breast milk? How you dealt with the situation? Help me.

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Is having a second child important?
|

Hi.. I know its a matter of personal choice. I am a single child brought up with my cousins, so I really don't know how its like being a single child. I would like to know the experiences of having a second child or raising a single child, just to make sure I will not be making any decisions in future for wrong reasons.
Thanks to all.
