thanks for your post, i knew of the russian files and they are great! still, i have started off with my own list of words, based on what my daughter already knows. that said, it doesn't seem that she is interested in anything but getting the ipad from me. we do battle like this every time. she loves to play with the machine, but no so much look at words. i am hoping it will pass. kids have a hard time staying focused in general, so i am not losing hope. thanks for the suggestions, liza

Can anyone recommend a nice picture encyclopedia with Russian? What I've done is buy a bilingual one with english and spanish and am now planning to translate some things I forget into Russian, but an easier way would be to just get it bilingual with Russian. Any suggestions? Thanks, Liz a

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Little math

Hi, I've seen mentioned somewhere that little math is meant for children before two. Is this true, and if so should I just get some other program for.my 19 month old since the program is intended for a year. I am a little confused. She hasn't seen any math at all at this point. What should I start with if the dots are no longer useful. Or maybe, since she isn't quite too, she will learn something after all? Thanks, Liza,

Hello. It's nice to be part of an online community and to be able to draw inspiration from the other parents out there. I am a little amazed at how many and how successful some of you moms are, its really something to read some posts. Thanks for inspiring the rest of us to be better parents and teachers to our kids. How long do the posts have to be to be counted. It seems that I might have written some that weren't counted, would this happen if they were too short? Thanks, Liza

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / How long to see results?

I know that this must be very individual, but how long would you say you've used the program before noticing some results? Would it be unrealistic to expect something within a week? A month? I am sure that age matters too, my daughter is 19 months old now. Thanks for the insights. Liza

Thanks so much. Last night it didn't happen, although she did wake up every two hours and I had to nurse her. It might be the teeth too, when in doubt, blame it on the teeth. And yes, I know that this too shall pass. I don't think it's directly related to playing too much either. Oh well, we'll see what happens next.

I am actually a bit embarrassed to admit to early learning. And I am embarrassed to admit to being embarrassed here. Maybe it's because we are new to the whole thing and my daughter hasn't given any sign of learning anything. Once she is a genius, I'll tell, I promise. But in case she never learns to read by 2, I'd rather people didn't even know we tried. Is this silly?

Judging by the posts, you're it! Congratulations. I can't believe you are really the only one out there. I am a mom but I have to say that my husband keeps trying to get me to go back to work so he can stay at home, and if I ever do, i'll let you know.

It is normal for babies to fall. MY daughter fell off the bed once too, there's nothing that we can do about it. I remember feeling terrible about it, but aaa long as the child is breathing ok and is not throwing up, everything is fine. This is just the beginning.

Has anyone experienced these with their children. They are anything but fun. My daughter has started waking up every night and screaming in a disquieting manner. She has never slept through the night, and this in a 19 month old, but this is something different. Even after I've breastfed her she is crying, and looks bewildered. How long will this last? Any suggestions? I read that it's similar to sleep walking and that it is better not to do anything, since picking the child up might end up scaring them further, but this seems conterintuitive. Thanks, Liza

Thanks so much aangeles. This is exactly the type of post I was hoping to receive! I feel encouraged already. Especially the part about the months and months. It makes me feel silly that after a week I was already having doubts. And yes, I am showing cards in Russian which is why I am not using LR. I am planning on using it for English, but I wanted to get a head start with Russian first. From your own experience, if had only used the LR twice a day, do you think that would have worked? Did you teach phonics too? Thanks so much, people like you make forums worthwhile.
