I change the name of the page in the Other tab but it still changes the original file that I copied over. So I cannot make new files without losing the old ones! I have tried to email but I don't think my emails are getting through so I hope I can get a reply here! Thanks. Katharine

Luv2 Laugh Really you shouldn't worry about LR in Spanish having influence over your child's accent! You are missing out on an excellent resource for silly reasons. With your child's father being Mexican, the MAJOR influence on how she speaks Spanish will come from him! A year of Early Learning LR to read Spanish at such a young age will not be able to alter that at all! All it will do is teach your child to read in Spanish. Sure some words are different. Well, you can always change those if you want - go into LR and change the recordings and the words. But even then I think that would be silly. Your child will simply learn 2 words for some things. It is an ADVANTAGE, not a disadvantage! All knowledge is good. You will just be providing your child with more knowledge.
I understand your concerns, especially as it must be irritating that the Spanish from Spain is often considered to be the 'proper' Spanish. But I cannot see any disadvantage for you in using LR in Spanish. Go on... you'll never find anything else as good. Why not get your husband to do the sessions with her and then he can always repeat some sentences, using the Latin vocab and emphasis? Then she'll hear both.
I wish you all the best with it. I hope I haven't been too forthright...

Use the BrillKids books. My son is 15 months old. He has been doing LR since he was about 5 months. We have been reading the Very Easy books everyday since he was about 8/9 months. I introduced LR in French when it came out which was a few months ago. We are on lesson 70. We read Let's Pretend in English all of the time and do the actions. We also read it on the computer when we do LR. Today, I decided on a whim to skip to lesson 131 in the French LR and look at Let's Pretend in French. Baby listened and read the sentences and BEFORE the picture came, he did the action to the animal. I was amazed!
I think the fact he already knows it in English helped a lot with that.

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Games. Photos or Words?
|
on: August 14, 2013, 12:54:23 PM

Games at the end, should we use photos of words? My 15 month old did photos for ages and recently we moved to words. We are on lesson 143 in Semester 2. We tried before but he didn't seem comfortable with it. Now he seems more comfortable with the words that are taught with pictures - ie the nouns and verbs. But when the choice is with words like 'of' or 'them' he gets confused. I don't seem to remember those other words being in the choices before.
It means that he now tends to just point at both pictures, whether or not he knows the answer and I now have no idea whether he is 'getting it'.
1. Is there a way of getting the games to only include the words that are taught with pictures? 2. Should I go back to just having baby choose between the pictures?
Baby loves Litte Reader and I don't want to get him frustrated by not being able to play the game at the end. Does anyone have any suggestions?
