EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: Is my son learning?

My baby is also 7 months old. What I noticed is that for LR he dislikes the sequences of words, like pattern phonics and sight words. He starts to sign no with his head and then turn his head to the side, meaning he wants to get away. But Multisensory gets his attention. For LM, he has been enjoying so far. My eldest never liked. And Little Musician is by far his favorite. But he doesn't like the instruments part and the final song session.
I'm sure they are learning. I got this approval when my eldest was also a baby and I was wondering if he was really learning baby signs. And some months later he showed me he was.

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: Do you allow your kids to watch TV

I allow but usually not longer than 30-45 min. The big rule in our house though is the language. To assure the exposition to the target language we do not watch TV in the local language. My son is 5 and can perfectly speak for his age two languages.

Hi Wanda, Congrats to your lil boy!
My eldest is also 5 and this year he is really into sports. He also likes Football (Soccer) and also bike riding. When younger we encouraged him on Violin classes. He didn't like. But he likes to sing and dance. These days he told me he not a good singer but can dance. What really drives his attention is weather and city planning. Once a week I play Cities Skylines with him.

The BrillKids Forum / BrillKids Announcements / Re: Important Announcement Regarding License Keys and Usage of BrillKids Products

I understand how hard this decision was. I'll give here my opinion. Maybe when LR was first launched we could not trust we would have Internet connection 100% of the time. Nowadays most platforms are coming as SaaS (Software as a service) and therefore they require Internet connection all the time. When people pay for a subscription they are expecting to use it on one device per time. But when people buy the license, they expect it to be their investment and use it whenever they can for whatever reason. Maybe they had to restore the PC to factory settings, maybe they wanted to do full format on the same PC and from time to time people do change their machines.
Steam, a platform for games, allows you to download the games you bought on as many devices you want, but it will allow you to use on only one device per time and requires Internet for that. It could be a solution for LR and other BK products. This is my personal opinion.
For me, as I trusted, paid and really loved the BK products, investing almost $500, I expect to use it as much as I can with my own kids, no matter if I had to change a computer or not. Now that I'm using with my second child I came to this topic and personally I don't feel like honest paying users should be limited due users illegally using the software as today there are better ways to protect the software.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Kids and soda

My son is almost 3 and he doesn't drink soda at all. I drink sometimes. He knows soda is not only for grown ups but once he tried and did not like.
Beer he knows is not for kids. I guess somehow we can make it very clear and he is not even curious about it.
What he wants is coffee. I'm against giving it to him, but my wife thought there was no problem. Once I explained to her, it is banned, but once in a while we can see some relative giving a little bit of coffee to him. So he is confused about it. I grew up not drinking coffee as a kid but several kids drink it here with milk.
