Hi. We currently use LR with our daughter who has down syndrome. It seems to be working great! I was looking at your site today for books to accompany the program. I ran across your aesops fable books but im confused about the price. On one page it says the 5 book set is "from $15" but when you click on it the set is $29. Also how do i use my points to help with a discount? Thx for your help. PS... Do the books use words they are learning on LR?

BrillKids Software / Little Math - General Discussion / best way for us to use LM with Down Syndrome
|
on: September 25, 2013, 12:54:43 AM
|
Hi! My daughter is seven with Down Syndrome. We have previously been using LR and love it (past several months). I found it last winter and now her school is using it with her twice/day. I just installed the LM program this evening and upon trying it a bit, I am wondering if it will work for us and how.
The first many days just show icons with quantity. I'm not sure she will get that. Is there other sessions down the way that would be more beneficial to her? If so, where do I start? Apparently math for DS kids is hard so I'm just trying to find a good fit for her. Thanks for any help you can give.

BrillKids Software / Tech Support / Re: Transfering to new computer

hi. Thanks for your reply in helping me begin to transfer our LR from old (broken) comp to new laptop. I tried to get started on that today but have run into a road-block. I was able to remove activation as per your instructions. But now upon trying to download it onto new computer i am having some trouble. I believe the instructions are to click on license code to begin downloading. When i do that i get this message: "do you want to allow this wbvsite to open an app on your computer? Allow or Cancel." When i click allow i get this message: "No apps are installed to open this type of link. Look for an app in the store." When i try that i get this message: "we can't find any apps that match....".
This is a brand new laptop that has Windows 8 on it.
So i gave up and am hoping you can help. i will wait for your response.
thanks much.

Greetings! We recently installed LR on our desktop and are planning to use the second license for a computer at school. (Daughter has down syndrome and planning to use this program for her reading curriculum at school next yr.). Unfortunately our computer quit working properly and i have a new laptop on order to arrive next week. How can we install LR on our new computer without compromising our 2nd license option? Thanks for your help.

Thank you for your explicit instructions for checking what kind of video files i have, but it didnt help. Sorry. I could never find a "categories" section. Im wondering if the trial version doesnt have that??? In my search, however, i found the diagnostic report box so i did that. I am hoping to get full version soon and hope all the videos play on that!

Forgive me, but i have no idea what a avi video is and how to check for it. You are correct, in that the screen comes up blank for that slide. Luckily it doesnt crash so we just quickly pass on by it, but i know how it should work as we have the Ipad trial app and the videos work fine on it. Will try my best to do a diagnostic report after you clarify avi format????? Thx much.

EARLY LEARNING / Parents of Children with Special Needs / Special needs scholarship
|

Hi. I am hoping to complete a special needs scholarship in the next few weeks but i need a couple clarifications on the documents we need to submit. I have a copy of a letter from our doctor from a couple years ago that states her diagnosis of down syndrome but it was to a society that helped us get an Ipad for her - will that suffice or do you need something more current and directed to you? No questions about the birth certicate. Now, the other two choices are financial documents and recommendation letter. It seems there are only three upload boxes on the application form, so which item is most pertinent? I can easily send you either. I believe our financial status is such that we would qualify that way as well as special needs. thank you for help. We have been using the trial on the Ipad but i am anxious to get the whole program. We are hoping to make it a part of her public school curriculum.

Thank you for info. I will be speaking with them on thurs at our parent conference. She is included in our public school but i will see if there are any other students who would be using it which would warrent them getting their own version thru the grant. Otherwise we will share our 2nd "copy" with them for her use. Wonderful -thanks!!!! When that times comes may need tech help making it happen! Not real computery! Ha.

I am waiting to get my computer looked at before trying the trial version of LR (have gotten a taste of it from free trial on Ipad) but have some questions for when computer is ready.... I think it may be a good fit for our 6 yr old daughter with DS and was hoping after getting the whole program she could incorporate it with her learning at school. Will I be able to load it onto a computer at school for her use there? I also want it available at home. How will that work? Will the school have to buy a copy? I am planning to apply for the Special Needs scholarship and hope that helps us get the program but how about the school?? Hmmm???? Help me please.

I have a 6 yr old daughter with DS. I am contemplating getting LR for her. I have looked at the scholarship application and will apply for it but had heard you had to be a part of the forum for a month before discounts would be given. Is that the case? If so i will need to wait several weeks cuz just found this program and site last week. Pls let me know what you know about that. Thx!

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / LR trial
|

I am fairly new to Brillkids - just discovered last week. My daughter is 6 and has DS. Think i want to get the trial version but not sure how to do it. I am on ipad now but assume i would need to be on PC when i try it. Do you just hit the trial button and it starts to load by itself? My pc has been working very poorly and slowly so think i sould get it checked out before loading anything new. Anxious to see how it works. Would like to use it on ipad. I think you can buy access for 19.99 once you have the program right? Thx.
