The BrillKids Forum / BrillKids Announcements / Re: BrillKids - Now BIGGER and BETTER!

I have to say that I am VERY impressed by the new Little Reader. You guys did an excellent job. As a teacher, I have tried making up my own curriculum for my son. This was extremely time consuming and I felt like I wasn't able to accomplish everything I wanted. This program is great. Yes, the price is expensive, but it is clear that a lot of time and thought has gone into creating it. If it helps my son learn to read and in turn expand his mind, then the price is well worth it. Thank you so much for delivering an easy and effective way to teach our little ones.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: raising a reader

Consider subscribing to a good children's magazine--children love having something come in the mail just for them!
There are various websites where you can order mail for kids. One is called "My-Very-Own-Mail." Each month you get a big envelope addressed to your child and it comes filled with a letter, stickers and fun craft activities.

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Download Preview in Little Reader Library

The one that showed a preview picture has 6 words with 3 pictures for each word. This only gave a preview of one picture for just one word. The other one has 8 words with 4 pictures each. There are no previews showing for that one....... I will try saving and uploading it again. Hopefully I can get it to work. I have great plans for creating many future downloads.

Hi. I was wondering the same thing. So far, I have created 2 downloads. They both have at least 3 pictures for every word. The first one only shows a preview of one picture for just one of the slides. The second one doesn't show any pictures at all. I am using the LR Lite version. I would really like to be able to show a preview of at least some of the pictures.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Pocket Chart for Flash Cards

I went to the local teacher supply store and got a pocket chart to hang in our hallway. It has 9 clear pockets that are perfect for holding flash cards. When I hung it up, my son got so excited because he recognized his flash cards. I hung it at a level where he could reach and point them.

I too think this whole program is fascinating. I never would have thought you could seriously teach a young baby to read, but I am willing to give it a try. The more I read on this site, the more I am convinced that it is not only possible, but very realistic. This is just what I have been looking for and I am excited to use these techniques with my son.
