7  Local Support Groups / Foreign Language Boards Discussions / Re: Translating 'Early Learning' for Spanish board - Traduciendo 'Early learning' on: January 28, 2009, 12:25:23 PM
Hi KL, you're welcome, i'm here to contribute, so if there's material already translated or that need to be updated i think it will be wise fo us to make a SITE MAP for all the contents, so we can plan and track ahead what will be actiones to be taken, what was done and what is remaining. Mainly we need to coordinate our efforts i think.

Well, i'll wait news from you then Wink

8  Local Support Groups / Foreign Language Boards Discussions / Translating 'Early Learning' for Spanish board - Traduciendo 'Early learning' on: January 26, 2009, 08:00:45 PM
It's great to see a lot of people making his/her introductory post at the spanish board, but sadly i see few exchanges about ideas or experiences and i think this is mainly because newcomers, that are no english speakers/readers, doesn't know where to start getting the basic information is his/her own language, so i thought that i'll try to overcome the "idiomatical barrier" by translating the 'Gettin Started' section from BRILLBABY, beacause first is first... and from there people can start his/her own experiences about teaching his/her baby, and in the future share their own experience, doubts, comments, etc with rest of the board...
It would be a shame that a parent that is eager to give the gift of knowledge to his children can not do it beacause a minimal language issue, more over in this era of communications, more over if there are people willing to help.
So those who are interested in lending a hand translating... you're welcome! if this endeavor is succesful we could ask KL to make this posts stickyes so they're easy to locate in the board.

   1. Introducción
   2. Te sientes abrumado? Empieza aquí
   3. Enseñarle a tu bebe a leer

fuente: http://www.brillbaby.com/early-learning/baby-intelligence.php

2. Te sientes abrumado? Empieza aquí

Ayuda! No tengo tiempo

3. Enseñarle a tu bebe a leer

12  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: How many book do you read to your child each day? on: January 23, 2009, 08:00:33 PM
Very interesting poll - I used to read 2 books (1 english 1 spanish) per day but recently I read one of Shichida books and they advise to read 8 books or more per day - so we are increasing the number of books - the books are small, first grade level, big letters lots of colors and fun stories.

Hope this helps.

Gloria

Very interesting Gloria, we used to read to my baby 3 books per day (he is 6 months) every day the same books so he get familiar with phoneme of our language.
According to this Schichida book, when is it recommended to start reading 8 books or more per day? Does it have any suggestion about on different ages? thanks.
13  EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Methods to enhance MEMORY on: January 23, 2009, 07:30:42 PM
Great technique! i wasn't familiarized with this one.
I tested on myself and have great result remembering all the items (i'm a very visual person), at university i used to make mind maps for studying with great reults.

i'll try to develop this further since it's a a very valuable techinque enhancing memory, for us and our childrens of course.

Thanks Frukc for the tip about googling, an activity that i do very very often...
But the idea of this post was about getting personal feedback about the thinking and desicions of those of you that already have to deal with this question...

One thing is the info that i can get from a research from the internet (ex googling   tongue ) and the other is the personal view point and feedback from people of this forum, that's what i'm interested, maybe i didn't explain myself better, if it is, sorry about that.
although thanks for the info (that i've already researched Wink)

Sebastián,
