4  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Review of Soft Mozart by parents on: May 20, 2015, 04:27:17 PM
I have seen some bad reviews (and granted it is from a while ago)  I am Shocked! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Soft Mozart and I seriously thought about purchasing another company's software but I am so so so HAPPY  I chose Soft Mozart. I could go on and on about how much I love it. The software is easy to use. It engages children of all ages (including Parents). It is thought through, meaning every detail was thought out in such a way to optimize education. Not only is the program itself top notch. The company consistently goes above and beyond, giving free curriculum and support online. Having wonderful piano recitals where you earn small presents for performing. The company and fellow members are there to help and support you every step of the way. I am so happy and grateful that I purchased Soft way to Mozart instead of the competitor, because I believe that my children and I have the right tools to learn piano not only on the surface but comprehensively as well. With Soft Mozart we will and have gone further than we ever would have with other products. I purchased Soft Mozart in 2012 and I never, ever regretted it. We have had issues with Soft Mozart particularly after updates but Hellene and Her Team were there to fix it as quickly and painlessly as possible. I thank Hellene for all the work she has put into this product (it is more that a product) and her consistent support and dedication to it and her consumers/ students. If you want to hear more about what I have to say about Soft Mozart you can read one of my reviews here http://bloomingbrilliant123.blogspot.com/2012/04/soft-way-to-mozart.html.
I stand by this review it is 100% Honest and holds true to today. We use the software almost daily and we all absolutely LOVE IT.
 heart

Wow! Thank you very much! The review is wonderful! I am looking forward to see your daughter at our Graduation Recital! Are you aware that it is started the May 15th?
5  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: discount on Soft Mozart - affiliate or redemption points on: May 20, 2015, 04:24:32 PM
I got the same issue. I applied the coupon with the 6 month subscription version but it didn't work at all.

Soft Mozart - If you don't have the coupon working, then please take it out of the BrillKid's redemption website. It's so confusing to us and time consuming too....

My apology for that!
Soft Mozart is a 'company' that is run by 1 professor  smile
I will try my best to straighten the 'business part' of the 'company' as soon as I will find a minute in my busy schedule teaching other educators.
Happy learning!
6  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Alternatives to Soft Mozart? on: May 20, 2015, 04:19:02 PM
Hello,  AnotherBookWorm!

I think, the problem is in the confusion: Soft Mozart is not a software - it is the new academically approved School.
It consists of many components, including training your child's mind to focus, to develop skills to follow the directions, to develop the effective learning habits, to build healthy self-esteem, to develop proper fine motor skills and both hemisphere/hands coordination and more through music and in very concrete manners.

In fact. Soft Mozart already a School that is being taught in Universities and requires 24 hours for professional's vocational training to be certified. It involves knowledge of many subjects besides just piano lessons.

In order to take the full advantage of the School the interaction in our Academy and following the lesson plans, learning, reading, watching videos, communicating with other professionals are must. As any education it is rich, deep, has a lot of layers.

Here are some milestones that may improve your experience working on the School:
1.Register in our community to receive support of other parents and educators:

http://www.softmozart.com/our-community/register-log-in.html

2. Introduce yourself and let us know about you and your goals here:

http://www.softmozart.com/forum/2-introduce-yourself.html
3. Whether you are a self-learner, a parent or a teacher, check our Lesson Plans here:

http://www.softmozart.com/forum/63-lesson-plans.html

4. Start your Progress Diary and post your updates here:

http://www.softmozart.com/forum/70-2014-2015.html

IMPORTANT TIPS FOR TEACHING WITH SOFT MOZART:

5. Hellene Hiner’s blog posts

http://www.softmozart.com/forum/20-hellene-hiner-s-blog/4565-let-s-write-a-new-book.html
6. Webinar: How to get attention of any toddler and teach them new skills.

http://pianolearningsoftware.com/pages/webinar_1

The book 'You CAN...' is also very helpful for understanding the subject, but I would start from applicable education.

Happy learning!

8  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Advice needed for supplementing piano lessons on: February 21, 2014, 10:12:11 AM
Thank you, Lappy.  And I'm glad you have been able to make some improvements to your program, Hellene.
Thank you, Tamsyn!
Need your advice with creating library for teachers. Would you like to help?
9  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Advice needed for supplementing piano lessons on: February 21, 2014, 07:14:08 AM
Thank you for re-placing this topic back to the forum
I graduated 7 years of music school, 4 years of Music College and 5 years of conservatory. This is 16 years of strict music education.
Today I moved universities to follow my lead and invention.
If you need any help, let me know
PS
You all know who Peter Thaikovsky is. Right? Nutcracker may ring the bell
Well... to make the long story short: the schools where Peter was learning and teaching endorsed my invention

10  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Advice needed for supplementing piano lessons on: February 13, 2014, 11:02:55 PM
I think, the best way to judge any method or product is very simple with Internet. I would go to YouTube and place there Piano Wizard, Soft Mozart, Hoffman, Thomson, Suzuki etc etc
After that I would watch JUST STUDENTS performances that refer to these methods.

The goal of any approach in teaching not to give students a fish, but the net to catch it. If students use the method as a tool to end up playing whatever they want with sheet music, this is THE way.

Otherwise, whether it is free or cost just couple of $$, it is a total waste of either money or time.
11  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: piano posture and form on: February 11, 2014, 06:01:55 PM
Lori,
I have to clarify something about Russian School of Music. The only difference between musicians from Russia and USA is years of being in school and quality of education.
For example,  you can get Master degree of music education only after 7 years of music school + 4 years of music college and 5 years of Conservatory. Our conservatories are not even close to universities here (colleges also the case!) We have ONLY music subjects and in schools, and in higher education. 16 years of very strict music training!
I wrote this to justify music education in Russia that is well rounded and has outstanding quality.

The problem of such 'traditional' approach is out of the scope of being Russian or English or French or *you name it * teacher.

The problem is how teachers body treat music notation,

If we all got use to the fact, that words can be enlarged, bold and explained with pictures for young children, it means that we adjust our English - Russian - French *any other* text to beginners eyes. Then we gradually adjust the text, adding more lines and getting less pictures until the original print.

Most music teachers whether they Russians  or not try to adjust your children’s perception to the rigid music text. Even if they make it bold and large - it is the same minimum 5 lines and more than 5 spaces.

This is where the problem with teaching music is embedded in the very core of music notation.

Here is another one about 'curved fingers' and 'an apple' theory :

Posture.
If a student develops eye/hand coordination, fingers awareness and perfect feeling of each key, he/she can play by sitting uoside down and backwards. The result is going to be the same. 'Perfect posture' is another myth do get your $$$ by teaching something worthless

Most controversial video:
muscle can be 'relaxed' in slippery road or in darkness.
Try to drive a car in a fog and you would understand that such relaxation is nonsense, because stress keeps muscles strained:
