I found the fc that were listed and some workbooks. I also found some phonics one like Phonics I, Phonics II, Sight Words. I found some some dry erase lap boards with lines on one side and blank on the other too. So cool. I was wondering if someone could describe the "smartmats" more so I know what I'm looking for. They may have been out since it looked like half of the bins were empty here. I have second target about 40 min away so I have to wait til I go in town next week to check. & Thanks to the person who mentioned these. I never go to Target as it's out of the way but I'm glad I got these cards.

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Split colour words

Hi there, I saw your post on changing colors. I've tried it on LR and when you enter a word file you would type the word with a / to change color.
So you would enter sh/ow and c/a/t in the word section when creating the word file. Then in playback setting make sure you have split mode "on" then pick the colors of the two splits.
I've attached a screen shot of the LR to show where it's at.

I'm not sure if it will help you or not but I have just started looking into educational tools to help me in my plan to homeschool later on (after I get organized) I get catalogs from www.eNasco.com/earlylearning.com (I like this one because the store is actually only 40 min from my home so I plan to go in an shop myself.) and www.discountschoolsupply.com Both of them have similiar products for learning just about everything you would need to teach a child including teacher resources. Some things cost a little bit and they have some book kits for a classroom but if you look through them they have plenty of sets for individuals. All the books they have including leveled readers and guided readers have level A-J and approx age group listed which I like. I made a list of the titles I liked and I'm searching in other places now to see if I can locate similiar ones before I buy what they have to offer.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: Let's brag about our babies!!

Hello to all,
While I can not say that we are as far along as other children her age, I had a pleasant surprise yesterday.
I got LR lite in March (9months) and then upgraded in May. (Until the curriculum came out I was a little disorganized)And while my SO agrees with Ashlyn's early learning he does not really help as he hates computers, but he encourages me to keep going with the time I have. Since I started the program Ashlyn has shown great interest in the computer. Now if she sees me on the computer she will crawl over stand up and peek over the top of the table to look at the computer to see if her "words" are on. She bounces like crazy when I open the program, and then she cries when I put her down after its done.
Yesterday while showing the course she clapped when the word for clap came on and waved when the video for waving came on. Although she has responded to us by clapping when we say clap and waving this is the first time she responded to the LR this way. I was so happy. Also since we started she has started ?Babbling 24/7. She was always a little quiet but now she is making sounds like crazy. I'm sure she is saying a certain phrase but I can't understand it yet. Hopefully soon. I wish I could spend more time working with her, I feel she would be so much farther ahead.

Parents' Lounge / Coffee Corner - General Chat / Re: How did you pick your username?

My username was actually a dogs' name but I liked it too much so took it over. Many, Many, Many years ago my mom was trying to come up with a registered name for our greyhound so she used me & my 2 younger sisters names' and combined them all kinds a way. JeKayDa won. ( Jennifer, Kaylan, Chan da) (My sisters are only 1 yr apart from each other and we refer to them as J & K, so that's were their part came from). I liked the thought so much I later opened a business using that name so signed all of my documents and letters like that and it's stuck ever since.

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: POLL: How did you deliver your baby? Vaginal or Cesarean?

I was planning a normal birth. But during one of my Ultrasounds 2 wks before due date, they found I had very, very little ambiotic fluid & I was already dilated to 2. So I was put on bed rest and fluid intake since my water hadn't broken. Then the doctor decided to induce 3 days early. I was in labor for 13 hrs and only dilated to 6 (I did get an epidural as I'm a wimp for pain). After 13 hours my blood pressure shot up extremely high, I started to have entire body shakes/shivers and then vomitting, so had to have c-section. They also had to try 5 times to give me an IV without blowing a vein. 5th one had to be placed in recovery after the surgery. Both arms were Black N Blue on the backs of my hands and in the inner elbow area. I don't remember much for the next 3 hrs. SO says that he had to keep waking me up, but that when they did show me my DD that I said "Mommy loves you" and gave her a kiss before they took her away. My whole body hurt for the next two weeks. She's was the greatest SURPRISE in the world, but the pain was a little more than I thought it would be.

The BrillKids Forum / Forum Feedback + Questions / Problem with Export
|
on: June 14, 2009, 10:41:01 PM
|
I am having trouble exporting a file to the forum. When I go to add a file I can enter all the information but the browse button is not available so that I can get the file from my computer folder. I am using IE 8 and did a flash player update to make sure that was not the problem. I have included a screen shot of the page with the browse button missing. I think I did everything right. Thanks, Jekayda
