I read a special book by Dr Zeuss each day from 16 weeks of my pregnancy. I also used a speaker type thing, can't remember the name for 2 hrs a day which has vibrations and pitch sounds. It is supposed to help make alert babies and she would respond in my womb. My baby was so alert from the day she was born I am not sure whether these tools were the reason though. Everyone noticed though at Mothers Group or with the Community Nurses they always commented on it. Mothers Group was amazing, my baby was much more alert and interacted with objects and people at a much younger age than her peers. My little girl loves books and learning and is like a sponge and even at Day Care her teachers always comment on her abilities and language development as she is very advanced. It is nothing forced she just loves to learn. I would recommend the tools I used, I have mentioned it to a few friends but most people are sceptical so I never say too much about what we do at home with our educational toys and tools.

Parents' Lounge / General Pregnancy / Re: Anyone did Hypnobabies or something similar for birth?

I used hypno birthing during my labour and had good results. My body was exhausted afetr a long labour but mentally I was alert and coping well with the pain. My husband and I meditate regularly and it helped me to get that bit of relief and relax between waves. I will definately use it again for any subsequent children. I think you need a supportive partner to help use hypnotherapy and have practised it prior it isn't something you just start doing amonth or two before the birth, you need to master it for it to really help. It is hard for my people to really relax and let go, especially during labour. Good Luck to anyone who gives it a go.

I started using Little Reader with my 15 month old, and have been using since the beginning of January this year. She loves it, she gets mesmorised by it and as soon as I walk in the door she drags me off for our daily computer time, we usually watch it twice in a row and do the actions etc and is great bonding time. I tell people we are using learning software but thats all I say, as she loves the computer and learns so fast. I don't understand the criticism if they weren't playing with this what would they be doing?
I have had people ask me about it, I also use it with my 5 year old step son, who struggles with reading and he enjoys it to. My daughter gets lots of one on one and play time and 5-10mins a day on the PC is something she loves doing as shes Mum and Dad do it when we work from home.
We love little reader!!!!
She has learnt new words to speak from watching so it is helping develop her language skills also.
Those people that sling critiscism are just jealous they cant make the time to spend with their children to do this activity.

EARLY LEARNING / Prenatal Education / Re: Anybody Expecting? Using BabyPlus?

Hi, I am 26 weeks pregnant and have been using BabyPlus since week 17, I am looking forward to meeting my baby and seeing if it has any impact. I am going to try to get a copy of the Dr Seuss book too. I am struggling with the music concept as I am not really into listening to music and have been trying to find something I like which is calming to start playing to baby so I can use it with them once they are born. I love readiong stories from others about BabyPlus as some of the results sound fantastic.
