This week I saw her point to the correct body parts and do the right signs before the words were spoken on the YBCR! (English) video's. So she is making visible progress. 

I started showing my girl (16 months) single words an now we are almost at 100 words. I also teach English with YBCR/GD combination and Math.
I would like te add the next step of couplets.
My native language is dutch and this is what I teach her. The problem with the modifying words in Dutch is they change when used in couplets, like  the word for 'grey' in combination with 'elephant': "grijs" to "grijze olifant"

And when I want to go to the next step of phrases I encounter a similar problem. Adding the word 'is' between a name and action word would not be correct in Dutch. To make a correct phrase I would have to add "is aan het".


Has anyone had the same problem in Dutch or any other language? How did you solve this?

I haven't done much of the threatening sounds part of the How Smart is Your Baby? with my girl (7 weeks today). And so far she hasn't shown any reaction to sounds, She hasn't responded to the blocks of airhorn yet. . But today I was watching a 2yo sing the blues and as soon as I turned on the sound my girl started crying. So I turned off the sound and comforted her. Not realizing it was because of the sound.
Then turned on the sound of the video again, and she immediately cried again. I repeated this a couple of times  and every time she responded with a cry.
So from now on I am going to use this video.

Are there others who have a problem getting a reaction from there little one when the hear a threatening sound?

I have been reading a long for a while now so I figured I would introduce myself.

I am a single mother (by choice) of 2 beautiful kids. I live in the Netherlands. Teaching babies is really rare here, and even frowned upon.   

A son who is now 7 years old, he was a surprise. At first he was fast, with almost everything. And I tied to stimulate him as much as possible. I bought the Your Baby Can Read program in Dutch, the Hooked on English program to teach him English for him, but we had difficulties sticking to the schedule. Things got in the way, like daycare, moving to a new home, and time passed by.

When he started school at 4 years, the preschool teacher told me that he might have and high IQ and needed to keep an eye on him. Then things changed, he got a new teacher after a couple of weeks and a couple of tragic events happened. He wasn't a happy child anymore. After a few therapy sessions thing got better, but his head start had disappeared. It turned out he is a highly sensitive person, and gets upset quickly.

Now he is an average child in reading, math and psychically. However he has a great memory and he is very curious for every thing around him. So his Encyclopedic Knowledge is amazing, especially since I have failed to teach him. He is now really interested in English again, so now we are doing the Hooked on English program at high speed. And then start the Hooked on Phonics program to teach hem to read in English.

With my baby girl I want to be more active in giving her every opportunity possible. I wanted to use the YBCR program, but the DVD's are broken, so in looking for an alternative I came across the Doman method. I immediately bought all Doman's books I could find and made some of the materials. I made a crawling track,  and even got a lot of compliments about it. A lot think it is genius (while not knowing what it is used for) and ask me where I bought it.
I started the How Smart is Your Baby? program a couple of days after birth. And is going great, my girl is making a lot of progress, also noticed by the pediatrician. Although she sleeps a lot so I can't seem to find enough time to do all exercises as much as I like.

I plan to do the following programs:
- math
- Encyclopedic Knowledge
- reading (Dutch)
- English
- swimming (Classes and hopefully Doman) (Here in the Netherlands babies aren't allowed in the public pool without floaties except during baby swim classes)
- and the physical program (already started)

At home my 7yo uses a 7 inch Samsung Galaxy. At his school they use 7 inch Ipads and sometimes the 10 inch version. Since it is a Montessori school they have a lot of Montessori apps. I haven't been able to find those apps for Android. Normally I would say buy an Android tablet, however in this case I have to say definitely Ipad.
 
I myself own a 10 Inch Samsung tablet and find it very useful for showing BIT cards as a powerpoint to my 6 week old baby girl. Since the screen is very bright she finds it very interesting and keeps her attention longer than the printed version of the cards. 
The 7 inch version is easier to handle for those little hands, but the 10 inch is great for showing BIT cards.
