Hi Everyone,
I'm Divya from Chennai, India currently residing in Melbourne. Its amazing that Indian board is more active than any other(Australian) board.
I started teaching my son 4-5 months ago but not regularly(as I'm working F.T) He was doing great and even now he's able to remember those words whenever he sees them in Tv, around him.
I started showing him flash cards( with pictures), ppt(with sounds). and he enjoyed and addicted to them.
I have crossed 50-100 words for him. Simultaneously I used to show him picture books, colors, shapes etc.,
Now..I got struck...
1. WHen I started Math dots(or any picture instead of dots) he refuses to see them and wanted to see the old (which he saw them early) ppt and books and doesn't want go for new ones(like introducing solar system, counting, more about vehicles etc.,) 2. I was not strictly following gloman method. 3. Also, now I don't know what more things I can show him(which alos interests him. Please find attached the words he is familiar with.
Please help me what to teach him next...(My son is not interested in seeing only words without oictures)
4. Suddenly, I realised about his schooling..Coz how will my son be at school..as heis familiar with more words(if I keep on teach him...he'll learn many things). But when you go for school..again he's going to learn the same thing I taught him at house.. 5. So...what will happen...? Will he lose interest in the future(as he's already known..and keep on teaching again with the known stuff)....I'm scared of his future...
So anyone can help me with 1. Anyone has got kids for whom you used this Doman system and how those kids cope up in their school? 2. IF yes..what's your opinion on this.. 3. If there's no any problems,...then who will our kids will behave in their school( in general only some 25% mothers use Doman system and teach our children and these early educated kids mingle with other non- early educated kids....how would be...)
Thank you in advance

Joha,
I understand the concept of GD. That's why I stopped when he hesitates to see the dots presentations.
Also, I don't how to introduce new stuff as he's stick to his old known stuff and not allowing me to retire the old ones(which he's familiar...fuzz to see them again and again...)
Anyway, Thanks for your response.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Problem in teaching Math

Hi, I'm Divya, mother of 23 months old son. I came to know about this website 3 months ago. I started showing many flash cards dowloaded from this site and other sites like childandme, classicalmommy etc., Also I buy some books and he learnt fast and now he's able to speak many animals, vegetables, friuts, household objects, transpotation etc.,
Also, he's under potty training and almost trained..
So, I thought of introducing Maths to him...In one of the books I had the counting till ten using fruits & animals. One day, my husband forced him to repeat the count..(say 1,2,3,4 like that). He said no.. And then onwards...whenever he sees numbers he's saying no.. So, I started with the GD method of showing dots (1-10) showing a sec each... But he's screaming and doesn't want to see that any more...
I'm annoyed of it..Basically I'm very good at Maths...I want my son to learn Maths...But how?
Also, he's not showing interest in learning new other presentations and wants to see the old animals, sea creatures, musical instruments (with sound)...and not showing interest in (days of week, months of year, universe, countries...)
Please help!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: how many are reading after how many moNths

I started at 15 months(don't remember exactly when I start). I was not aware of Doman method...I was showing him the toys and teaching him train, helicopter, aeroplane etc., AT that time, he was ab,e to recognize which is helicopter and which is aeroplane....
Then I came to know about the Doman method and I started with flas cards....initially he was interested but later he started tearing of the cards.....
So, I started buying some books for him....he's so eager and learning....Being a working mum I could teach him only at the night time.
He's showing his interst a lot.
Now he's able to tell and point out....squirrel eats acorn(from the movie ICE AGE)....animals, vegetables, fruits, body parts, house hold items etc...
Still he's not showing interset in maths...If I start showing him by counting the fingers, he says no..no..mom... But, I keep on trying..

Hi,
I'm from India (from Chennai) but settled in Melbourne, Australia. Am glad to see our Indian community here.
I have 21 month old son and am just started to teach him using flash cards. He's responding well. The method tells us to show not more than a second. But my son is very eager to see the picture and grabs them tries to tear them off.
Could anyone give me a good solution for this.
And with ISP, can you explain briefly. I'm not familiar with that. But I know Little gems in Chennai who sells the course material but too expensive.
Also, could anyone give me the feedback of LIttle Reader software.

I am a new mom to this forum from Melbourne. I'm working and have 20 month old son. Hardly spend few hours daily in the evening and weekends with him. He's eager in learning things and reading books. I 'm interested in increasing my son's intellengecy by teaching something. But wondering what and how. And I found this would be the right place for me.
I wish the brillkids team all the very best.
And look forward to discuss with you all.
