I agree.  Associate images with simple words, for example fish, shoes, socks and so on.  Doing it this way, your young one will learn everyday words fast which will open an opportunity for them to learn more words and read.

It's nice to see external suggestions.  I just hope it's ok with the mods.

What would be a good suggestion for language earning age 3 years old?  My daughter loves Dora and I would like to introduce her to language learning away from the television.

I'm not from Australia too but based on my experience, it would be best to give your child all the attention she needs.  I'm not saying that private school is better than public school, but if you'll think about how many students they have in one classroom, right?  For private schools, they may have a few students per class and the social interaction is good for your child.

I agree that mothers are the best teacher for early learners.  Your daughter will get all the attention she needs and will make your bond with her stronger.

My son is going to start school this coming school year and my princess will be  doing the same next year.  Hopefully I can give them some activities involving languages while playing.  They are a big fan of Dora the Explorer.
