Another good site to creat your own photo book is Shutterfly.com. Their hardbound books are really awesome to look at. And you can completely make your own layout or choose from theirs. They also have more budget friendly photo brag books that you can also use to make books for your kids. If you join their site you get information on specials frequently.

So far we have used Signing Time and the first DVD of Your Baby Can Read. Signing Times is a hit with the whole family, including grandparents. But my daughter does not have alot of interest in YBCR thus far. Why did you say that making regular flash cards is easier than using computer? Besides, being more portable, I thought that convenience/ time saving was one of Little Readers biggest benefits over regular flash cards. Could you explain... because we are looking to buy Little Reader and that was one of our reasons in favor. Thank you. Thanks to everybody! There are a couple of products I had not conseider like Leap Frog. I need to look into it. Also, I need to go back and read at the post on Kumon Method. I forgot to include in my list Baby Hook on Phonics. This was the first DVD my daughter saw. At the beggining she loved it. Now that she has been watching ansd seeing other materials, when I try to play it for her, she starts crying So I'm not using it anymore. We also have hand made flash cards, which are a saver when ou are in a hurry and don't have to time to set up your computer.

EARLY LEARNING / Homeschooling / Re: Disney Preschool Online

I have not joined their preschool program, but I played one of their Playhouse Disney free online games a couple of days ago with my daughter and it was cool. They asked you to point to the square that had x amount of dots-- a number between 1 and 4. She got it right every time! The only problem was their is so much extra stuff around the game you are playing, at least on the free portion of the site, that she was easily distracted and would only play twice before wanting to move on. Overall, a great site.

That is a problem, is your baby okay being in the highchair? Our daughter really wants freedom and does not like to eat strapped in!!! If you are feeding her in the highchair maybe she feels like their is too much else going on and she is missing out while eating? I don't want every dog-lover to get upset with me BUT can you send your dog out for a little while so she can have eating time without "help" from the dog ?! I travel alot so my wife spends a good chunk of time at her folks house... they have two dogs and they keep the dogs out of the living area while our daughter eats if the dogs get too interested in sharing!

My wife just reminded me-- she read on Dr. Sears that one good idea is to place healthy finger foods (vegetables, fruit, crackers, yogurt to dip in) and set it on the coffee table or any other convenient place where your child can get to it and let them pick at it throughout the day.

My wife nursed our daughter exclusively until she was a year old. (We used an alternative vaccination schedule and we read that exclusive breast feeding for the first year and then breast feeding in addition to solids in the second is very important for ensuring babies receive the proper immunities.) She was (and is) developing well (always between the 75 and 95 percentile) so we have taken a fairly laid back approach to eating. We present her with healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, cheese and eggs and let her decide what and how much to eat. For example, sometimes we will give her broccoli at lunch(she will eat both raw or steamed) but our daughter may not decide to eat it until after she wakes up for her nap. We are not strict with her about it, we don't force the issue. We have been strict with ourselves though. We don't eat things that we don't want her to have and we model for her how much we enjoy eating good foods. So that did mean that we gave up sodas and said adios to over-processed junk foods. Ouch-- that has been hard. And occassionaly after a hard day at work I sneak a litte diet coke into the house. But as she grows older even that will have to stop or she is going to catch on! Point-- if your baby is developing appropriately I would not worry. Just keep introducing new healthy foods. And let them see you enjoying the good food! Also we do not offer her any, what I call, fluff foods-- foods that do not offer any real nutritional value. That way when she does eat it is just the good stuff. Some days she will eat broccoli non-stop, another day only kiwi will do, it just depends. And doing it this way she will even eat straight up lettuce and spinnach raw! Our cousin did the same with his children (now 4 and 10) and they can not get enough vegetables!

I place my daughter's seat in the middle of the back. I think that it is safer and it makes it easier to pass things to her if need be. She hated riding in the car until I switched her to the middle. I think because it helps her see out of the front window more clearly.

Products Marketplace / Product Discussions and Reviews / Re: Multi vitamins??

We give our daughter liquid vitamins A and C for several days before and after getting each vaccination shot. This is suppossed to boost her immunities and avoid experiencing those side effects which doctors consider normal after the shots. So far it has been a real benefit. She has never had so much as a red dot on her after a vaccination. But we can not compare it to how she would react without the vitamins because we've never not given them to her in the time period surrounding the vaccine. We also give her vitamins whenever she appears to be coming down with a bug or someone in our immediate family or friends are ill and she has come in contact with them. We buy the vitamins from the health store and we found the dosages recommended by Dr. Sears.

Hello, I am new to BrillKids. I am interested in learning more about the software program and how it could help my wife and I in teaching our daughter! My wife just finished reading Doman's book on teaching your baby to read and it seems really interesting. But also alot to make so many cards. I hope this will be a good answer to provide proper stimulation and learning to our daughter but also save us time. Look forward to learning more.
