one more things, the little reader is ok, but my son wasn't too interested in it, maybe its designed for little babies rather than older babies like mine.  So I was disspointed. Just my opinion. 

Hi...welcome.  I just found out about the starfall.com website last month and my son loves it.  Like the other user suggested, its free and great for preschooler through first grade.  Also, have you heard about Kumon?  Private tutors can be expensive, but Kumon might be good.  The pricing depends on where you live.  The website is www.Kumon.com.  The Kumon concept is learning through repetition and the child has worksheets which they complete weekly.  There is another website where you can make your own worksheets and print them out www.worksheetworks.com.

You should also try the free downloadable material from this website, it will really help and its free.  Get him into playing music if he is interested.  Violin, piano, etc...but be involved and patient.

Something to get him exicited about reading and into books would be Summer reading programs with your local libraries so its perfect timing for you.

I have only child and he doesn't get much interaction with other kids his age, other than maybe at the park.  I am sending him to preschool next month so he learns structure and social interaction, two things he doesn't really have at home.

I am new to this website, but I started YBCR when my son was around 8 months old and at the time I thought I was starting too late. (since Dr. Titzer recommends starting around 4 months).  I worked long hours at the time, so I could only show the videos in the mornings before work.  I didn't see any results until he was around 14-15 months old.  That was when he started recognizing the words and participating with the videos, ( like arms up and pointed to body parts)

but now that is over active 2.5 years old, he has absolutely no interest in the YBCR videos, he actually has a fit when I put them on, partly my fault because I stopped showing YBCR at around 20 months and switched to leapfrog learning videos.  It was a trade off, he learned his abcs in a few months but hasn't really gotten to reading full sentences yet...

Thanks for this information.  I had no idea what dolch words were until now.  I am going to order the video as well as try to teach on my own.
