Hi,
My daughter is 4 1/2 yrs. She enjoys LMs very too, but she do not like the long version of classical song at the end. So i tried dancing with her, walking very fast or slow (according to the rythym of the piece), jumping, flapping arms to fly , using crayons to draw freely on the paper (eg, when song is gentle, the drawing is gentle, just by using 1 colour crayon) I remeber i saw the crayon idea in one of the SHichida DVDs. As for clapping hands, sometimes i let her use the tambourine n other musical instruments to make it fun. Hv fun

I would suggest continue the flash card sessions. Dont give up. Are you using Little Reader and Little math? If not, it is worth investing. I started flashcard when my daughter is about 7 months old, i was frustrated like you, only when she is about 18 months, she started reading. She is still not a very good reader but she knows many words she learnt from Little Reader. She knows, English, Japanese and a little of Chinese words. So dont give up, just be patient, you ll see the results very soon..Good luck

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Makoto Shichida's Book - anyone?

Hi Shen Li,
Are you living in Malaysia? I think you could find Shichida books in Popular bookstores, but the books are all in Chinese. I too tried to searched for English versions, but i was told that they stop printing them a long time ago. Have you made enquiries in the Shichida centers? Because in Japan, parents and child are allowed to attend 1 time trial session. 1 session is 50 minutes. Fees are expensive, it is about USD150 per month, and a 1 time enrollment fee( I cant remeber how much). you ll be given a monthly CD for songs and some programs played by the computer , Windows / Mac. Is it the same as in Malaysia?

Must be really stressful. When my daughter was still an infant. She had problem sleeping too... She wakes up many times in the night and during the day, she couldnt sleep well... wants to be carried all the time... I spoke to my pediatrician but he was not able to give helpful advice, he said that it could be from me too. When i started taking her baby swimming classes, her sleep patterns improved. She sleeps 12 hrs at night (wakes up for night feed when she was below 18 months) and take about 2 hr naps in the day. Now she is about 2 1/2 yrs, we stop attending daily swimming classes but still goes to pool around 2 times a wk, jog 2 km about 2 times a wk. she doesnt take naps daily but fortunately sleeps through about 12 hrs at night. And recently she is trying to sleep on her own, without my company. As for us, taking her exercise helps improve her sleep. As for Pediasure, have you triu ed internet shopping? I m not sure where you live but i think Amazon gives free shipping to many places. As for Yoghurt, there are many yoghurt recipes. It is very very easy to make, you might want to try. If he doesnt like milk, have you tried soya bean milk or goats milk? Or how about blending them with frozen fruits? My daughter did not like plain soya bean milk, but when i blend it with some frozen blueberries, she loves it. I once tried frozen banana in one of my Japanese friends house, i think it is a great snack. However, since ur place is so cold, it might not be a good idea to have frozen banana for snacks. Anyway, i think i might not be a bad idea to freeze fruits for later use in cooking or shakes, or snacks http://www.soya.be/how-to-make-soy-milk.phphttp://www.wikihow.com/Make-YogurtReally hope you ll overcome the problem soon. Take care.

I have tried all the means to explain him.. softly & firmly. I took him away from kids , made him say sorry , punish him ( sit in one corner or that mummy won't speak to you). When my daughter was naughty, i did the same thing to her, "Mommy is not talking to you!" What happen was, later in the evening, i told her to clear her toys, keep them where they belong. My 2 yr 5 months old tot told: "No talk you!" And she just turn away, saying that she doesnt wanna talk to me! Ouch it hurts!!! SO i guess, that was not a good idea after all!

hi,
as for physical, has you read the books," How to teach your baby swimming " and also "how to teach your baby to be physically superb" If you haven't, i think these are great books. I started late, however i think my daughter still benefit in a way. I started taking my daughter swimming when she was 1yrs old , she is 2 yr 4 months now, she could swim a little (about 1 m) without any floating device, with her face in the water in the adult pool. And recently, we started jogging as the weather gets warmer. She jog n walks for about 2km each session/day. I am also teaching her several language, i think you ve plan well, cant give you any better advice. Keep it up!
