1  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Re: What is your experience of teaching your babies English as a foreign language? on: August 23, 2012, 10:41:06 PM
Hi,
I am Polish native speaker, but I  speak to my children both in Polish and English. My husband is a Polish native speaker as well - so Polish has been spoken most of the time at home.
Thanks to watching Tweedlewink DVDs, Your Baby Can Read, listening to English Audio Books, singing songs, reading a lot in English, they both have started to speak English very early. They are 3 and 5 now and are communicating in English confidently.

We learn other languages as well - mostly watching flashcards, DVDs, reading books - but it is more of a passive knowledge at the moment.  Anyway, it seems to me that the more languages is around, the more the kids absorb and understand. There are no limits! Do not worry if you might not now the language you want your children to learn - learn along with them. They will sense your interest and love for the language you are all learning and it will speed up the process.
All the best!

2  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Pros and cons of starting violin before 3 years old? on: August 09, 2012, 11:18:16 PM
Hi!
My son has started taking violin lessons what he was 2.5. Before that I used to participate with him in some music classes for babies and toddlers. He loved those classes especially because the teacher used to bring lots of real instruments for children to hear and play with. We uses to watch Tweedlewink DVD lessons as well. He was very excited whenever he saw any musical instrument in his flashcards. At 1.5 he new all the main instruments and seemed especially excited about guitar and violin. He used to take two wooden spoons or sticks and pretend he was playing violin.
When we started attending violin classes on a weekly basis he was thrilled to hear the teacher play her violin. There was lot of singing, clipping, fun exercises with the box violin and the wooden bow; what he especially liked was a picture book that I was making with pictures of him holding violin or an illustration to the song that we were singing. At that time he had a box violin. Suzuki CD was played lots of times during the day. We tried to listen to life music, especially Suzuki concerts as often as possible.
He used to come with his box violin at 6am and ask for his songs/practice LOL

When he was 3.5 he got his real violin. He was so excited… and then... he refused to play it at all!  yes I did not know what to do… he just refused to play at all…As if he was waiting for it for the whole of his life and now when he had it, he was satisfied. So it took a lot of energy from me to make up interesting games and be as playful as possible, so he could enjoy our practice.

The routine was established pretty early – at the beginning he played once a day, then twice a day. The routine is very useful. However every now and then we get to the point that he is less enthusiastic. Then he needs more games and encouragement. Nice life concert is always a great incentive.

My son is almost 5 now. Couple of months ago he started suddenly playing anything that he could hear or sing. He has perfect pitch. It makes him very very happy and it is a great encouragement for further practice.

Too sum up, I think there is never to early to begin. Most Suzuki parents I talked to said that there are always ups and downs with practicing. However the most important thing for me is that the practice time is a lovely way to for us to have some fun together; a great bonding time. As long as the parent is enthusiastic and finds relationships more important then results anything is possible.
Good luck! All the best!
3  EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: TweedleWink advice /similar programs to little reader-advice on: June 06, 2012, 09:30:31 PM
Hi,
I have started using Tweedlewink DVDs with my son when he was 8 months old. He is now four and still loves it. With my doughter I started prenatally. She is now 2.5. Watching Tweedlewink together has been a lovely bonding time for us plus a great acceleration.
Tweedlewink is not only about flashcards it is much more than that. We use it always first for affirmations, eye exercises, perfect pitch, speed reading preparation, and of course for all the flashcards program as well - reading readiness flashcards, math, science, art etc.... then we use Little Reader (which is a wonder program and very easy to use for parents) and Little Musician.

For teaching Spanish– we either use Little Reader flasharads, Tweedlewink Language DVD and a DVD series ‘Whistlefritz’. There are ready Spanish flashcards available from Babybit as well (We have never used them though)
I must say that taking Tweedlewink course was realy useful to me, because it gave me all the confidence and knowledge I needed to teach my children - it is a good investment! (I have already taken Wink course and find it extremely helpful in further teaching )
And of course I should mention all the great help of wonderful parents on the Brillkids forum that give all the support and encouragement!
Thank you everybody!

4  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Revolutionary Bajkowska's Music Method !!! on: May 25, 2012, 10:39:19 AM
Hi,
Thank you for this post! What a lovely teaching method!
I am polish and I had a look on a Polish website of the author. It seems to me that there are teaching resources available in Polish. I hope that the English version will be available soon.
Have a look on you tube:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/aXCUEIFJNpg&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/aXCUEIFJNpg&rel=1</a>

Webowiec - Could you let us know how can a homeschooling parent get the resources? Is there any shop online to buy it?
Thank you so much!
5  BEYOND EARLY LEARNING (for older years) / General Discussions - After Early Learning / Re: Wink Program - Right Brain Kids on: March 14, 2012, 08:15:04 PM
I would like to recommend both Tweedlewink and Wink Overview Courses. They are absolutely fantastic. I am so amazed that the Teachers from Right Brain Kids are sharing all their knowledge and experience so freely. Reading Pamela’s Hickein book is a great introduction to both Tweedlewink and Wink teaching programs.

I took Tweedlewink course  when my son was 8 months. I have been using Tweedlewink DVDs and homeschooling using Righ Brain Kids Program for almost 4 years. I am so grateful for this experience. My second child was thought prenataly and along with her brother since she was born. I am amazed how the gentle stimulation of the Tweedlewink Programm is helping in the whole brain development of  both my children… it would take a very long time to describe all the benefits… let me just say that at the age of two, given the variety of knowledge, showed a particular interest in music and musical instruments – at the age of four he plays violin and has perfect pitch; he loves to learn, read and discover the world… my daughter is now 2.5, she loves to learn languages and is a very quick learner; she is in love with dance and gymnastics.

I can see how Right Brain Stimulation had an amazing impact on myself over the years. I have started Wink Course and I am going to introduce it to my children when they are ready.

The most important think – the Right Brain Kids teachers, trainers, anybody I was in touch with, are very very helpful. You can always ask them for help and advice.

With watching TW DVDs – always follow your child. We used to watch it once a day four days – now we watch one lesson once a day for one or two days, and it is enough.

I hope it will be of some help to you. All the best!
6  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Re: Helping each other in teaching children multiple languages on: January 14, 2011, 11:53:58 PM
HI Tracy,
I am Polish native speaker. There are some Little reader LIbrary files available here I translated some time ago. They have Polish pronunciation. I hope to produce some more soon. I think it is quite tricky with the Polish recources. I do not know if you can download anythink Audio for free; and the webpages of bookstores are in Polish only (but I am sure you can order anywhere in the world)
My children adore Audiobooks - tales and stories with songs and music (I used to listen to them as a child and now they are available on CDs) - they are called 'Bajki grajki'
http://www.audiobook.pl/c/pl/52_32/-5/1/0/long/bajki-grajki.html

the other tales in both Polish and English - Bajkowa Akademia Angielskiego:
http://www.literia.pl/promo,262,Bajkowa_Akademia_Angielskiego.html

songs for children in Polish; book and CD ('What Granny and Grandpa sang when they were children') - 'Co Babcia i dziadek spiewali kiedy byli mali'
http://www.edukacyjna.pl/ksiazka.php?id=6475

audio tales in Polish online; free to listen to:
http://www.waszebajki.pl/

some cartoons in Polish on you tube:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/LwcNLMVIAPo&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/LwcNLMVIAPo&rel=1</a>
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/bGipVJhZtEc&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/bGipVJhZtEc&rel=1</a>

I will keep my eyes open and post anythink useful that I can find.
I hope it will be useful
Best wishes, ola

8  EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Re: how to develop intrest in colouring and writing? on: January 08, 2010, 03:31:07 PM
hi,
thank you for great ideas!
I am using a book ''First Art : Art Experiences for Toddlers and Twos'' by MaryAnn F. Kohl. It is also very inspiring. When I am choosing a very messy activity I try to do it before the bath, so my two year old son can have lots of fun and I do not have to worried about him being covered with paint:)
it is so wonderfull to enjoy the art process!

13  BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / some comments from a new user on: September 08, 2008, 05:13:29 PM
Hi!
I would like to add some comments on Little Reader. Me and my 10 month old baby love it!!! Great and very useful, time saving tool! thanks so much!
I thought I would write some suggestions; sorry if it is a repetition, or maby I am not aware of how to use few things in the programme, or it has already been changed - I am still using older version:

- Would be nice if I could choose folders in the paylist and be able to play the choosen categories one after another; without creating one file to place all the choosen words into --- dont know if it makes sence...

- Would be great to be able to print one picture on A4 and then the following word on the other A4 - just to make it possible to make flash cards for younger babies (the words on A5 cards are very small sometimes --- esp when the word is long --- always the case in Polish)

- Would love to have possibility of putting all categories in alphabetic order esp when serching for categories that I want to print

hope it is helpfull... generally great!!!! well done!!!
thanks so much!
