Thanks for all your supports! My kid finally speak and copy my words. As we are responsible parents, I did took her for an evaluation.
Her social behaviours is in the age of 4, the social skills is above adverage. But the speech is back behind one year. The evaluation report kind of point out the truth, she did mixed up Cantonese with English and cannot pick up both. The Child therapies/ doctor suggest us from Single Cantonese words. She now follow up quite well. Just a bit slow......
Somehow, she may copy my words in a similiar tone..... Actually quite funny and cute... It's the happiest thing in the world to watch her starting to speaks....
Cheers,
Iris

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / "Little Reader" with animals sounds, far more attractive ....
|

Hi! Do any of you guys found that, "Little Reader" with sounds are far more attractive then normal ppt file or files without presentation sounds. It's kind of my daughter can tell the difference of "Silent- Little Reader" and the "animals sounds - Little Reader". That's easy to recognize. When I start playing "Little Reader" with the "duck's quack quack quack...", she will abandon the TV and come to me immediately. It's like Magic..... However, files without sounds samples may not be as attractive as it should be, then she will quit.... Well, e.g. "Fork" and "Knife" do not have a sound, it will only be words prouncations. Somehow, babies are realistic....

Hey Joanne,
Do Mandarin and Cantonese consider as 2 languages? I am a native Hong Kong that speak Cantonese at home. But teaching Mandarin at home seems a must nowadays.
Pretty chaos....

Mom Iris

Hi! Dear all, Nice to meet so many moms here. It's a mom's wonderland. I am an insanely busy career mom in Hong Kong. My daughter, Emma is just 2 now. Well, everyday I spend a little time with Emma on "Little Reader", infant education will be important in such an age. Usually, her patience will keeps on for 7-12 Minutes, then I need to "release" her, play a while and go back to "Little Reader" again. As my schedules is always tight, quality of times will be significance of successful teaching.... Cheers, Iris

Hello, everyone,
Thanks for all your help and valuable sharing. Yes, Teresa. I discovered that my baby understand a lots but she is not willing to speak. And I may got too concerned. I thought my daughter is having a speech delay too. The government clinic transfer her to a speech pathologist, but in case, I don't feel thats such a need. She can say, "Cat" when she see a real Cat in front, or "Daddy", when her daddy get back home.
K.L.'s points is good. Any mom or parents may ask a thousands times, just simply wants their babies to speak up an "answer". I have tried to ask plenty of questions but my daughter totally neglected me. Except you got foods or drinks on your hands. I think, she kind of cannot tell the differences of "Hello Kitties" and "Keororo", but I am sure she can write a thesis paper about "Potatoes" and "Rice".
One point is, my baby seems understand me well. When I requested her to get back a little, babies usually getting too close to the TV monitor. May be Lil was right, I have been too pushy. She don't felt the nessarities to talk....then don't talk.
As I have consulted some of the other parents and you told me "Albert Einstein only started talking at age 9", I seems relax a little. My baby seems thinking a lots and understand my questions well. I asked my mom if I talk a lots in the same age. My mom told me, I went to a kindergarten for interview at the age of 3, there a teacher start to ask me a question, my answer is "Not necessary to talk". I definitely told the teacher, "I don't want to answer you. That's not necessary...." Sigh.....
Cause and effects, it seems my turn to suffer now.
:tongue2:

Hi! My daughter is 2 years old now. I don't know whether it's the problem of Bi-langual, my BB 很遲都不懂說話.
I think you all may have the same experience. My Indonesia maid is talking half English and half Cantonese. 我聽不懂的廣東話. We are bi-langual parents that speak half Cantonese and English. Somehow, I found my duaghter understand my meaning well. But she don't speak.... I already tried to stimulate her by singing together or using some other gaming methods to force her talk....
Last week, I noticed she eventually spoke "一, 二, 三...." However, it was Indonesian pronunciation "一, 二, 山...." Headache.......
