Do math and reading softwares work on mac?  I have purchased those but then my pc died and we got mac book.  I was wondering if those softwares willl work on mac?

Oh, and i put DVDs like YBCR, little pim while they are having dinner or brkfast. So i dont have to spend special time for DVDs. And they watch them happily on high chairs.

It is easy to get overwhelmed while teaching kids especially toddlers.  Please check this tread.  Few parents have given good schedule guideline.

I try to do math and english flashcards everyday.  We speak with them in English and in Indian language.  I do Indian languege flashcard over the weekend (usually dont do math and english flashcards on weekends).   If you are pressed for time, try to do 2 things on weekdays and 3 things on weekend.  Also you can try reading a book during bed time.  That will cover english / chinese reading part for the day.

How does day - night schedule look for 21-22 month old toddler?  How much time do they sleep (night + day), what do they eat, how many time during the day do they eat/drink (do you try to include all food categories suggested by food pyramid in their daily meals?), what do they learn at what time?  I just need some guideline for planning schedule for toddlers.  Feed back from working and SAHParents are appreciated. Thanks.

My kids love BE.  I just have one but they like it.  I have sign language one.  Can anyone suggests any other BE DVD that their kids love?  May be I can buy one for xmas gift.

Another question is i have 3 computers in my house. If i buy LR+LM, can i install it on all 3 computers?

What is the difference between LifeTime plan vs buying sem 1+2?
Its written that 12 mo plan has 12 months usage.  Does that mean it will stop workign after 12 months from the date of purchase? vs lifetime will keep working? Will i get free upgrades later on if i purchase lifetime plan?

My husband is 4 pointer, PhD MBA from top school in US, he writes poem , he sings good and he watches lot of TV.  It's not that he is watching discovery channel or anything educational, he watches movies, sports, seinfields, fraiser.  So i dont think watching TV is anyway related to being smart in school.  I agree that watching excessive TV will restrict you from doing outdoor activities.  As long as you are not addicted to that thing, you should be ok..

i allow my kids (18 months old now) to watch TV. I dont restrict on time.  I let them watch educational DVDs when they are on high chairs for brkfast (so that is @ 20 minutes).  + we also watch TV in front of them.  Interesting thing i noticed is that they now know perticular part of DVD and smiles or claps or move their body as if they are dancing when they see that part.  Also the other day i heard them saying a spanish word from Dora DVD.  So I dont mind them watching it as they are learning from it.  Also when we watch TV in front of them, they play on their own and come to watch TV when there are commercials going on.. God knows how do they figure out what part of the program is commercial?  Also when they find remote somewhere, they press button and look at TV. I think at this age, kids are pretty much into observe and follow mode. So as long as you are not watching or doing anything bad, let them follow you. There is nothing wrong in watching TV as an enetertainment.  There is nothing wrong in using computer for work.  Let them get smart with TV, Comp, Phone, Iphones etc.. We strive them to learn language, math,art then why not introduce them to electronic media as well. Thats my personal opinion.  My mom scolds me to allow them to touch remote or phone, but i tell her dont worry, let thm figure out things on their own.  I dotn know if i m more relaxed parent or what, but i want them to learn everything... 

we have something called little gym here in houston.  Also there is something called the motherhood center here.  Please google on it to see if you can find them in your area.  My kids went to little gym last sem and i know someone going to motherhood center. 

i have used cd for sometime while i was pregnant.  But i cant tell if that had any effect on my kids..

BTW, i try that my kids gets exposed to multiple langueages, my nanny speaks more spanish to them, me and my husband speak english to them and they watch some TV programs in 2 indian languages.  Hopefully they will pick up all these different languages soon.

I have nanny taking care of kids in the morning.  i let them watch YBCR or any other educational DVD during brkfst, lunch (@ 30 - 40 minutes each day).  When I come home in the evening, I show them math cards 2 times (3 equations) with the interval of 2 hours.  Also I do flashcards of reading words twice a week.  I read atleast 2 books after dinner, before putting them to bed.
I had written email to Gentle revoltion telling that i m FT working mom (with travelling husband) and mom of twins. And asked if it will be ok, if I dont follow the schedule as given in the book, but make modifications in it? (like showing only 3 cards only 2 times?).  And I got reply back that it is absolutely fine, as long as your kids are showing interest in it.  My kids started crying looking at dots when they were 6 mo old, i stopped for 1 months, and started again and they did fine after that (14 mo now)... Hope this helps.  I would love to see if anyone else has more tight schedule and how do they find time.
