Aetchelle , the license key allows you to re-activate 2 more times. Plus , Little reader and all brillkids software operate on Windows. If you want to install it on a Mac, you will need a virtual PC program to rub the software. Parallel and boothcamp seems to work just fine.

Just realized that the total slots for activations is now 3 times for PC.
What about iOS and Andriod?

I have one question.
Does the numbers of license key removal affect the previous users who bought the license before March 22?

Hi Jen. I am Elle and I am also from Canada.
I am from Caledon, ON. I am a Brillkids veteran.   I've been using it since my son was a little over a year old. He is almost 6 and going to Grade 1 this September.

Oh I forgot to mention that we have decided to give up on French Immersion. He was accepted into 2 French Immersion schools but  my son loves the Catholic school he is attending so much that we decided to keep him where he is the happiest. We never have any problems about him not wanting to go to school. He can't wait to go and don't want to come home. 

Not sure if this is the right decision but I believe my kid learns best when he's happy.

I love  Jump Math as it's a Canadian curriculum. I am using it with my 5 years old. I like the detailed teacher guides. You can download them for free from Jumpmath.org. You can buy Jump Math from Amazon. There are Jump At Home, Jump Math AP1.1, Jump Math AP1.2. If you want to give it a try, please chose the AP1.1 and 1.2.  The he Jump at Home for Grade 1 is just the copy of the AP1.1 book.

I also enrolled my son in a soroban abacus course at UCMAS. I am pretty sure they have centers in BC. ^^

I can't really help you much with second language as we have fallen off the wagon countless time. 

Just want to show you guys my abacus. I bought it from Tomoe Soroban. It's made of plastic but very very of good quality! It's a little bigger than the mini abacus we got from UCMAS.

The one above is the abacus we got from the center. It's too small for my son. He likes to work with the new one I bought from Soroban.com.

lzp11 - We have similar system at home. My son earns iPad minutes when he's done his homework. However, he is a very very strong willed boy. What work best for me is walking away from him when he whines. 

Maquenzie - Speed writing is part of his soroban/abacus homework.  He has to write  as many lines of "1234567890" and "41322341" as possible in 1 minute. I believe abacus is about speed and accuracy so the kids were asked to practice speeding writing at home. 

Thanks for the ideas! We  goes to the library every  Saturday but I never really look into their audio books. This could be something I can do with him before bed or when all lights are off. Just like lzp11, we don't really spend a lot of time in the car. His school is less than 5 minutes drive. I might be able to sneak in LMs lesson during the ride. 

We normally do his abacus homework, speed writing, time table writing, and maybe spelling or Jump Math. All it takes is about 1 hour but if he whines, it could take 1.5 - 2 hours.

It's very challenging for me to get my little one to do stuff in the morning. He is not a morning person, though he goes to bed before 9 every night.

I thought it was easier for kids to subitize when they can see the whole abacus? The smaller size might be harder for small hands to move the beads but they can see the "whole" image of the beads.
What do you think?

I prefer the one you purchased from Tomoesoroban. The demonstration size soroban I saw on your blog. I really want that one but it's sooo pricey!

I would like to know how parents on this board schedule after school learning.
Are you hiring tutors or teaching your children yourselves?
What subjects are you teaching after school?   

My son is starting grade 1 this September and would like to have some ideas to set up his learning schedule.
