Thanks Kizudo.. that's what I'm worried about, that I will invest in it and then wont like it. Can you send me a link to the blog? I can't seem to find it, or at least it doesn't seem like the right one.
Can someone give me an idea with the kind of lessons or at least first lesson with a book Goodnight Moon. I have that book and so will know if my son or I like the layout. I am running out of time, and will be heading back to Bahrain in weeks, so am very anxious to get my hands on the book.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Before Five in a Row

Hi,
I'm looking to purchase Before Five in a Row or at least borrow it for a month. The neighboring libraries where I am do not carry it, and the price it's going for is above my budget, since I have to get the supplemental books that go with it as well.
Does anyone have a copy that I can borrow, or would like to sell for a reasonable price? I am currently in NJ, and will ship it back, after a month if borrowing. Any books that goes with it is also welcome, if you like to sell that as well.
Will really appreciate it, if anyone knows or can point me in the right direction where I can possibly get my hands on it
Thanks in advance.

Thank you ladies for sharing all the great info.. Tracy I can't give you detailed info, but VIRGIN Coconut Oil, is excellent for people with Thyroid problems. heck, it's actually one of the best and healthiest oil, which has been marketed as a BAD oil. Anyway, I am writing an article about it's health benefits and uses, but you can google health benefits of virgin coconut oil (coconut connections is the website I would go to). There is a large amount of info on it.. I am also reading a book called Healing Miracles of Coconut Oil. Will update on that as well.
Oh and an FYI.. many hospitals have been known to give coconut oil to premature babies and sick patients to help recover. Coconut is the 2nd best source for lauric acid (about 50%) after mother's milk and then it's dairy with 4% lauric acid. It's also has antibacterial, anti fungal, antiviral properties.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / How to Teach Your Baby to Write
|

Hi,
I know there were a few parents here, who tried out the How to Teach Your Baby to Write from the Doman site. I just wanted to get a feedback on whether or not I should purchase it for my 25 month old son. There is book, which I m also looking into, Raising Confident Readers: How to Teach Your Child to Read and Write--from Baby to Age 7 by Dr. Richard Gentry.
I would love to hear back from parents who have either used one or the other or both of the programs.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: KNOWS the words, but won't "read - what gives??

I don't know what it is, but my son had and is doing the same. Except for some easy words like cat, dog and giraffee, he doesn't say cow, but when he sees the word, he says moo, and when he sees a pig he says oink... best one is, when he sees an elephant he calls it haati, which is our native tongue (urdu). My guess is that he is not able to say it yet, but knows what they are, which I think is really what matters. I do know how you feel, b/c I have seen some younger kids reading and pronouncing harder words, and would love for him to do same, BUT ALL children are diff and go at their own pace.. I am amazed everyday at things he just starts saying, which I didn't think he knew =) Just keep doing what you are doing with her, and enjoy!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Teaching Arabic
|
on: January 19, 2011, 09:53:22 PM
|
|
I have started to teach my 25 month old son Arabic on keynote/powerpoint. As suggested by Ayesha Nicole I am doing the letter sounds for each letter and with the fatha, damma, and kasra sounds. I was wondering if when teaching the whole words, should I place the fatha, damma and kasra, or do it without them. Lot of books and some flash cards I have seen don't have them. What would be the best way to do it?
Thanks

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Pls Reccomend Best Place to Buy Large Picture Flashcards
|
on: January 18, 2011, 02:28:58 PM

Hi,
I am looking to buy just picture flashcards, and so far I came across this Photographic Learning Cards - Nouns, Verbs and Adjectives (275 cards) on Amazon for 45 bucks including shipping. The size of the cards are 4 1/4 X 5 1/2. This is the largest I have seen for picture flashcards. I'm looking for a little larger size. Can anyone recommend pre-made flashcards which come in bigger size?
Thanks

Ann, there are many, you can do a search for toddler games, toddler education, preschool games/ education. I'll list some that I see on my iphone. My son has figured out how to delete applications and tends to do it just for fun =)
Anwyay, here they are: Smart Baby - My First Flashcards Shapes lite ( son loves this) Flashfree Sight words Puzzles Free Baby Cards Lite Baby Flash Cards Flashcards Matching Zoo ABC Phonics Glow Coloring DoddleBuddy (drawing) Tozzle Lite abc lite Baby Classical Lite Baby Piano Lite (son loves this one as well)
Thats all I see on my phone right now, I'm sure there were more, but like I said he has figured out how to delete, am guessing they got deleted. NOT all of them are educational, some are games just for fun. =)
Hope this helps!
