EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Electric Guitar and Drums?

Hi Ryan here. Was wanting peoples thoughts and stories about baby's and rock music. I have an electric guitar and drum kit at home so needless to say my little Hailey hears a lot of music, and a lot of it's rock. I'm not talking about death metal and I'm not deafening her or anything but I play a lot of Seether and Breaking Benjamin and things like that on my electric guitar and she loves it. I'd love for her to learn an instrument. I could see her playing bass or something. Any comments?

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: Sharing schedule for babies from 1st to 2nd month old

Hi guys. I'm Ryan, I'm 25 and a first time dad. Little Hailey is now 6 months old now but we never really thought much about a schedual. Both Lauren and I live fairly stress free lives and live in a calm quietish environment (I have an electric guitar and drums you see). So when she was sleepy she slept and we fed her when she was hungry. And once Lauren Was back at work then we all har to be up at 6:30am and the sleeping patters sorted them selvesout. In between we read books and had floor time and played then when she got sleepy we gave her a nap. She was great and sleeped through the night from an early age. So in a way Hailey controlls her own wee schedual There is an article aclled "The Biggest Secret Of Worry-Free Baby Development" at http://www.teachyourbabyinfo.com/category/baby-development/ that sort of touches on the subject. He there, Ryan and this is the first time I have heard of potty training from birth. I am the father of a gorgeous 6 month old girl named Hailey. We have been so lucky with her and we have this easy going mello litlle baby that never complains about anything. I see a lot of potential in her and she is so alert and confident. And now I've read this post about potty training and I'm getting Ideas. So just wanted to say thanks and I'll keep you all posted on how I get on. Ryan

Yes you bring up a good point. You must have fun.. Fun is an important part of learning. Children respond well to fun, it motivates them and helps them remember things. And they love the praise. I only have one little 6 month old girl but I grew up with all my nieces and fun was always a big part of things.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / My Rock'n 6 month old

Hi guys, Ryan here. There is a lot of music in out house and a lot of love for music. I'm our house we have a drum kit, 3 acoustic guitars and an electric guitar. From about 4 months old, little Hailey has loved listening to us play to her. Although shes a tough little critic, she can listen for as long as I care to play and she moves and laughs and smiles. But it only takes a few bum notes to get her upset and moody.
She really gets down to Seether and Breaking Benjamin and Rocky stuff like that and she loves being sung to.
As a musician I know the joy I get from music and couldn't imagine life with out it. So I'm really looking forward to getting music in to Hailey's life from a young age. I'd love to hear from other parents that have children that can shred the gat or rock out on the drums.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm really enjoying parenthood and really exited about all the learning opportunity coming up for wee Hailey. I myself love to learn and play several instruments and have many hobbies, so as you could imagine theres no shortage of things to teach.
What I'm especially interested in is the early early side of child education. I love to hear stories of what your kids learnt to do from a young age. I definitely think that the first few years are crucial for learning and want to maximize Hailey's learning from a young age.
What do you guys think?
