I just recently tried to my daughter the placemats created by Sonya and Andrea (super thanks!) Check this post https://transactions.sendowl.com/stores/4674/19213My daughter is so attractive with the placemats (it comes with activity cards for parents). Even though we have been doing some of the activities in cards, it is helpful to me since I only have few minutes of time to do math with my daughter in the morning before I go to work or when I come home after work. I wouldn’t need to think an activity since I can just choose from the activity cards. The placemats also provided a new way of presenting the activities to my daughter and she loves it! And what I love is…. the bundle includes 10 different languages, perfect for us because my DD also learning Spanish and Chinese

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Logic Puzzles For Kids

Oh I don't post videos in youtube (I think I should start doing that for my reference) but we do different activities everyday. I am working so I only have few minutes in the morning before I leave the house and few minutes also before bedtime. I do write in her white board the activities she needs to do so that eventhough I'm not around she is still doing something. Like Monday, its about Music ( have printables from Tamsyn's site ( http://www.teaching-children-music.com), then Chinese/Filipino on Tuesdays, Wednesday is Logical reasoning and poetry, Thursday is Math and Friday is Spanish. Weekends mostly are for anything like art/science, physical activities, etc.

I thought I'm the only one having issue with this. I also thought I just need to update my LR but haven't done yet so I don't know if it will work. What I do everytime we encounter this is I need to escape and play again. Hopefully we can have the solution. Many thanks!

Tamsyn, I'm so thankful that I subscribed to your website because a lot of treasure to find like printables and videos. The printables are really great because I can apply it to my daughter who is 3 yrs old what we have learned in Little Musician. She loves the games though I changed it a bit to suit her interest but so far she likes them. I am also learning because I dont have any music background except drawing of staff I highly recommend it to everyone because the are tons of stuff there and I know Tamsyn keeps on adding more

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Seeking Review on ' Froebel Gifts' / Gabe Gift /Spielgaben GIFT

Hi cheerymom! we received ours last February and I really thought about it carefully as it is really expensive. I always checked different blogs (like 1+1+1 and others) to see if its really worth it. Then I found a reason to buy it, a gift to myself But I think it is worth it because it includes a PDF file as a guide and ideas on how to play with it. I just ordered a printed version so that eventhough I am not around (working mother), my daughter can still browse it and do some workbook or any activities that will interest her. Btw, she is 3 yrs and 4 months this Saturday and I trained her to take care of her things to make sure that all the gifts are complete. And yes, it is Montessori method because every activity is laid out neatly and nicely that will encourage their creativity. Some of the gifts are suitable for below 2 yrs old and until 12 up I think.

I just want to share my daughter. We did the tower again today, but this time I incorporated the frozen figures and the counting bears (see the picture). Even though the tower keeps falling a lot of times, she keeps on building it. I thought she'll be frustrated but I was wrong. I am just happy to know that these Mortensen blocks help her to be patient and more focused. We are still in the basics as I read in some threads, it is very important. I want to make sure that he really understand the reason why we are doing it. She can apply also some terms what she's been seeing in books and DVD (like small/big, tall/short,top/bottom, less/more and some more words). Thanks guys for introducing Mortensen Math!

Hi everyone! Just wondering how's your kid with the blocks? I already received our set 3 weeks ago. I am slowly introducing it to my daughter by saying the name (like this is our friend 1. Hello 1!) Then, i also show it to her during bath time together with her other toys. We have also done building tower but most of the time she just want to scatter the blocks. I know i just need to be patient and she will get to used with it. Also, i need to watch some videos several times together with the manual because me myself need to learn how to show it to her.

I would also like to join the Skype but I am also waiting for my friend from US to bring my blocks. I haven't done any activity also with my DD related to Mortensen. Is it possible to join the Skype eventhough I have nothing to share yet?

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: 16 month old not talking - any ideas to progress speech?

Hi AaronJ. I'm so sorry for my late response. Thank you for the attachments My daughter has primary language which is English but she often heard us talk in Filipino and she understands it also. For the other 2 languages were just merely an exposure through DVD, audio book and songs. Regarding over exposure to screen time, I am guilty with that because her total screen time per day is 2 hrs. As I'm a working mom, I just let her nanny knows that she should limit her screen time at 1hr in the morning and 1 hr in the afternoon.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: is enrolling to kindermusik a good idea?

We just had our trial and my daughter loved it, so we signed up immediately. I think their activities are very engaging. They will let the children try different musical instruments, sing, dance and storytelling. And yes, their CD is nice too so that you can replicate the activities at home.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / is enrolling to kindermusik a good idea?
|
on: May 14, 2013, 10:45:09 AM

my dd is already 17th month old and she loves music and to dance so much. We have LMs I play it during weekdays. She also listens to music everyday (either bible songs, children's songs, classical, peter weatherall, etc.). I also let her watch trebellina 2-3 times a month. She loves the musical instruments when it is being shown in LMS and trebellina. She always dance everytime she hears music, even the sound of chopping board and knife while chopping . As long as there's a beat, she will dance. I also bought SM but she's still young for that. I want to nurture her interest in music and dancing. I don't know if my resources are enough, so I'm planning to take the trial class in kindermusik and if she likes it, i will enroll her for 1 term (3 months). I am not sure though if enrolling her will be a good decision or is there something else that I can offer more to her without enrolling to a class. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a lot!
