yes, i think alot of reading to your son would be useful. Do flashing of flashcards would be effective too. You can slowly expose your child to single words first, and move on to two words, and slowly phrases and sentences. You might want to play those flashcards dvds like brillkids or winktolearn (programs that i tried before) as they provide pronounciation too. Hopefully all the advices help! All the best!

Hello, I have a girl whom is slightly over 16 months old. Im teaching her mainly English and Chinese, with third language Spanish. English and Chinese are her main languages while my husband and I knows abit of Spanish and so would like our daughter to get a feel of it from young.

I mainly use flashcards to teach her English and Chinese vocabularies. Whereas for Spanish, I actually use WinktoLearn Speak & Read Spanish DVDs, because we adults aint very good at it, so we thought it would be good to have some proper channel to expose her to. It may sound tough for a young child to get expose to many languages at a young age, but research have shown that the younger they're exposed to, the better and faster they learn. I'm not stressing my gal thou. Just taking it at a slow pace for Spanish. =)

The iBooks are all about the different type of animals in the world. they have fun facts, photos and videos. So maybe you can use this to tell a story to your child, teach her simple words from the iBooks and etc. I purchased the Amazing Rainforest one! my gal likes it alot. =)

Hi, I think other than the methods you mentioned earlier on, you can also try flashcards. Personally, I think that flashcards is a very effective method on young kids. From what I know, flashcards is effective for children below age of 4. =)

Hi, I think it'd be great to start your child with words with flashcards first cause i read up on flashcards, it is still very useful for a 22 months old. And also listening to songs is an effective method too cause most children like music. So perhaps songs can help to learn abit of language.
I know of a program that actually has most of the language that you're interested in.

hey great to know that she focuses so well at only 2.5 months. my child who's 20 months old focuses at times too when i show her flashcards but most of the time she would wonder off or get distracted by the cards.

But she likes the flashcard DVDs from WinktoLearn a great deal. Everytime i show it to her she would actually sit down and watch it attentively. Sometimes she would try to repeat the words though not very clearly. =P I'm thinking of getting other languages as well since she likes it so much.

I think both are good but perhaps physical cards might be a little distracting for your children.

it's actually flashcards in DVD format and according to the creator, they follow Shichida flashcard method and apparently from some other forums, many parents actually find it effective for their child. So perhaps you may consider! =)
