BrillKids Software / Tech Support / Re: Using word split in other language

Thank you so much! Yes, it helps a lot! Now I can easily change the viewing and get the word split when I want to. The LR program is great by the way. Love the recording program too (I have been using a few other programs at school before and this program is really easy to use compared to them). Found a very easy way to use the English-version files and change the words to Swedish,. I made my changes, hit "save as" and then hit "cansle" for the things I changed (important not to "save" anytime during the changes). Which means that I have saved my new swedish files in a new name but still keep the old english files as they were before. No need to export and import every file every time I change something (but I have exported every file once so I have it om the computer if something happens ) Thanks! Bellan

BrillKids Software / Tech Support / Using word split in other language

Hi, I´m translating LR to Swedish (with lots of help from Iris) and I have a question about "word split". I have noticed that in the files "general categories" the words arn't split, but in the files "word split" they are, but I can also see that they are from the same saved documents. When I save a word for exampl Katt (cat) in a word split from the beginning when I "make" the word and do the recordings I do all the different versions as whole word, first part, last part and put the / in the word where it's supose to be. When I then play the word in a session the word comes up in two colors (it shows the word split) even when I don't want it to. How do I change this? Or do I have to have the word split- words in its own file only? (And not have the word split information in the other files for exampel "katt" in the common animals file that is make the word "katt" more that once). I hope that someone can follow what i´m trying to explain Thanks for any help on this Bellan

Hi, I know that this thread is old but if there are any other parents out there with the same problem I have another book to recomend: A good night sleep by Anna Wahlgren. I have done this with my girl who didn't sleep and she has been sleeping the whole night since, 11,5-12 hour nights. And she Loves her bed and she Loves to sleep. Its about making the baby feel safe and secure in bed, and safe and secure while sleeping. Nerver lett the baby cry, never lett the baby feel abandond. It takes 4 nights while the parents are awake all night and then an extra six days and then the baby sleeps all night. Its really nice, and gentel way of geting the baby to sleep.
Hope that i can help someone /bellan

Hi again, Now I know what I did. I changed the original file ,IrisGranstedt explained that I should hav exported the file first and I didn't. So my new question is how do i get it back? The only things that I change are three files (kick, point and wave and all the related soundfiles). Or do I get a new original file when I buy the Little Reader? All the best Bellan

Hi again, I posted a question in the LR-part of the forum, but I guess it should of been posted here. So I quote myself "HI again, I'm getting a hang of this. And Wow! what a great program! I have recorded some swedish voices myself and changed some words, it's so easy! And my little girls says More, more when the lesson is over (even if I show her the english version) But I have a problem, I didn't want to change the original lessons so I cloned the lessons into an other course, I tought and started changing the words and sound in the new course (the clone). But somehow I also changed the original one so when I went back to listen to the english lesson I hear my swedish voice and see my swedish word in that one too.... What did I do wrong? And how do I change it back? And is it possible to do what I was trying to do, or should I have done it in another way, and it that case how?" All the best Sara

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Re: Advice please - teaching toddler to swim

Hi, We did one semester of babyswining. It was fun but I guess my girl didn't learn to swin on her own. The things I remeber that we did was: Hold the baby under his/her arms or let the baby lay on one of your arms (and you hold your hand around the babys arm near the shoulder/armpit, the parent walk/turn backwards when you do it this way) and pull him/her around in the water while the baby kicks. Kind of the beginning of swiming. When you do this above you can have a toy (that flotes) and make the baby "go fetch it". You can also hold the toy under water and let the baby try to grab a hold of it (distans looks different in water). You can have a floating madrass (don't know the real word for it) and practise jumping of it (holding the baby under his/her arms all the time) We did this and put the babys head under water and pulled them up at once (don't know if you can do this with an older child). ANother thing we did that the teacher told us was very important that a baby/child can do, is to jump into water and then turn and grap a hold of the ledg and pull himself up out of the water. We practiced this by letting the baby sit on the side of the pool (holding on to the baby under his arms), saying 123jump and then helping the baby to jump into the water and at once turning the baby around and making them grab a hold of the poolside and helping them get out with a little puch on the put or leg or foot. We aso had one of the floating noodles (or what you call them?) and letting the babys body rest on them on the armpits near the chest, the parent then pull the baby fast in the water (parent going backwards). I usualy did all of this in water were I have the watersurfas somewhere under my sholders. But this eas individual. Good luck with swining and ask questions if you dont understand All the best Bellan

Hi, I have just installed Little Reader. And I have downloaded some files (Swedish files to LR) with no problems but how do I change the english words to the swedish words? I can´t figure it out I guess that I would like to for exampe change the whole folder with "action words" to my downloaded folder with "Swedish action words", is that possible or do I have to change one word at a time? Thank you so very much for help! Bellan
