EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Confusion - any tips?

I've been using little reader and ybcr dvds/flashcards with some really exciting progress, however there are a few things that my son is starting to get confused by. In particular, he used to understand 'arms up' but now can't seem to differentiate between that and 'arms down'. He ends up getting frustrated after one or two attempts and then doesn't want to play flash cards anymore. Is anyone else having this trouble? Should I take these cards out the pack, or just leave them until the end? It seems such a shame to remove them when he clearly recognises it's something to do with his arms, but I don't want to frustrate or upset him, as it was always such a fun game for him until now.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: children, TV and right-brain videos

I agree. I don't have a problem with William watching a short amount of TV, but it depends WHAT he is watching. There are too many cartoons about aimed at small children which are incredibly overstimulating, loud, fast, and often unwholesome in content. I can't believe this is good for his attention span, or my sanity!!! We have used your baby can read DVDs since Will was 4 months old (and little reader for as long as it has been available) and at 7 months he is starting to recognise his favourite words. It's incredibly rewarding, and I think TV can be as much an educational tool as the laptop. We just need to be a little bit discerning as parents about what and how much we allow them to watch.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / reading first words

Just had to post somewhere, and here seemed most appropriate: MY SON IS READING HIS FIRST WORDS OUT LOUD!!!!!! I'm so excited! He is only seven months old, and said Mama for the first time about 3 weeks ago, and Dada at the beginning of this week, and yesterday he read Tiger!! (Well, okay, he said 'deegar' but he knew what it meant and has been waving a plastic tiger and saying it all afternoon! We tried to correct him, and now he just sits staring at the tiger saying 't,t,t,t,t,t,t' but when he sees the word he distinctly says 'deegar'! Thank you so much! This program is invaluable, I recommend it to everyone!

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: colors during playback

Sorry it's taken so long to reply, I've just been swamped! Yes the colours were still not contrasting correctly with 1.03, but I've just downloaded 1.04 and it seems to be fine (so far, to be honest, the incidences when the colours are the same are very few and far between). I'll let you know if that changes. The font one was pretty obvious, don't know how I missed it! It's now working brilliantly. Thanks

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / colors during playback

One more little problem in the fantastic program...
When you set the background and font colours to random, are they supposed to intelligently choose two colours that contrast well?
The majority of the time the program does this very well, and I like that it changes colours as it keeps my sons attention and means he doesn't associate one colour with a particular word. It's just now and then that it picks to very similar colours and makes the word difficult to read.
Also, is it possible to make the fonts random? If it is, how do I do it?
Thanks
