Try mixing a presentation of numerals and quantity. Also many children find dots boring. Try something that interests your child instead, like little footballs or puppies or whatever. You can try Little Math for free for 2 weeks if you click on the free trial version. You might see if some of the different icons interest your child. My daughter and I also like to do "Delicious Math". We get out little chocolate chips or cheerios and do addition, subtraction, multiplication, division demonstrations with them. After each live equation we eat some. She loves it. Especially division. Math is fun if we want it to be.  |

My Mom recently had to purchase a new washing machine. She had a top loading high efficiency model for less than 10 years and it went belly up on her. The parts to fix it cost more than a new front loader without all the bells and whistles. The repair man told her a top loader may be the most reliable choice. Simple parts cost less to repair and they do the job just fine. He suggested a whirlpool, and he doesn't work for a brand name. He's just a small town repair guy. Hope this is helpful.  |

Andrea H,
I read your last post on this topic and am curious. Do you think it is a bad idea to do flashcard on the TV or computer? Also, do you not have your child use computer? Have I understood correctly?
I am very impressed with your hardwork and results, as I have read many of your posts.
Unfortunately, with little space, money, and poor organizational SKILLS(a life long problem) your program seems very daunting. I want the best for my daughter. She is brimming with potential. It leeks from her every pore.

thank you so much. I want to take what you just wrote, write it down and carry it in my pocket!
Better yet I want to silk screen it on a T-shirt and wear it everywhere. When people say," Aren't you worried about social developement?", I'll just point to my shirt.
What you just described is already evident in my girl's behavior. She goes everywhere with me and I always include her in what we are doing whether I am conversing with other adults or children of this age or that.
She already is quite well spoken and shows confidence in social situations.
I really felt that this is a more natural form of socializing, but I just didn't have those thoughts put in words. Nor do I have any experience, as my girl is my first.
Sometimes you just have to go with your gut, but having someone with experience validate your instincts is always reassuring.

Kudos and karma. My little gal loves cleaning and helping out . She has always wanted to and I've let her. Her enthusiasm is contagious and I think it's making me a better housekeeper. (Thank goodness. I'ts never been my strong point.) If she finds a mess, she quite cheerfully announces that it's time to clean up!

My daughter is not even school age yet, but I intend to homeschool. I am looking for ideas on socializing when homeschooling.
I don't know many people in the town where I live and my daughter has no sibs or cuzos nearby. I want her to have friends and meet with them often.
Any ideas on how to achieve this.

I live in Southeast Iowa and am curious if there is anyone nearby(SE Iowa, NE Missouri, W Illinois).
