EARLY LEARNING / Homeschooling / Books - FREE WORLDWIDE shipping!!!
|

Hello everyone! I haven't had a whole lot of time for forum posting lately with all three little ones mobile and on the go, but I couldn't resist this one. I thought it would be especially useful for those of you living in places where shipping costs makes ordering books difficult. I know when we lived in China, I had to wait until we went home in the summer and buy books there rather than have them shipped. Even here in Canada, I saved over $250 on my book order (between lower prices and no shipping costs) for this year's homeschooling. I had 90 books that I wanted to order and they had EVERY one. Anywho, I hope this helps! http://www.bookdepository.com/?a_aid=sarahjean (Yes, it's an affiliate link - be nice and click on it first if you think you might ever buy books from here!)

The BrillKids Forum / BrillKids Announcements / Re: Want to be a MODERATOR for the BrillKids Forum?
|
on: February 22, 2011, 10:00:35 PM

Hello KL,
As you know, I am eager the help out with BrillKids in any way I can - I think this would be the ideal opportunity! As a strong supporter of early education and mom to (almost) three little ones, I think I would be a great candidate for the position.
Although I have no experience as a forum moderator, I do maintain a strong online presence and feel that my extensive background in customer service and love for helping people would be great assets.
If you have any questions for me, feel free to ask. I look forward to discussing with you how my particular skill set could be valuable to the forum.
All the best,
Sarah

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Encyclopedic Knowledge / Re: Poor Man's TW! Anyone interested?

omimama,
There is a bit of a formula, as you can see in the rest of the thread, but annisis and I will get together this weekend to make it even more detailed and easy for people to follow. If you'd like, I can ever choose a set of topics for you. I just wanted to give people the chance to volunteer for topics that would be easiest for them to do.
I'm so glad to have you involved!

Okay, so I looked at Windows Movie Maker on my computer and I can see how you can edit videos...I have even done that before. I can see how you can make a slide show of pictures. I do not see how you can make a video like the original video that was posted. I even looked up information on how to use the program on microsoft.com...all they show is how to make a slideshow of pictures really, not much else. I do not know how to use this program at the moment so can someone please help those of us that do not know. I was really excitied but now I am confused and feeling a little bit defeated already . So please share how to use the program so I can try to get started. Thanks Don't worry - I'll make sure everyone can use it. I would like for everyone o sign up for their topics first though so I know that I'm not wasting my time I look forward to seeing what everyone chooses!

Awesome, Tracy! That looks great (though you forgot to change your music! ). I would suggest that you go ahead and start gathering images (the better quality you can find, the better) an keeping them all in a folder. I'll show you how to make the word portion and put everything together once a few more people have signed up for their topics.

Absolutely, Christine! If you read through the rest of the tread, you will see what categories we plan to cover, as well as what topics have already been taken. You can grab the list of categories and go through what you already have and fill in your topics that way to make it easier (exactly what I did!). As for how we will do it, my plan was to use MovieMaker (a windows program) but I will figure out the equivalent for the Mac users...it's really as simple as putting your images/video on one track and your audio track on another. I look forward to seeing what you would like to cover! Glad to have you!
