Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: Is walker good or bad?

I'm and very pro-walker. My 2 year old had one when she was a baby (we were living in China so it wasn't illegal like it is here!) and it was fantastic!
She didn't have any walking delays nor did she seem to have any other issues from it. We didn't have her in it ALL the time, mind you. Mostly when I was cooking...

Hello aangeles, My girls are 25 months and almost 11.5 months. Little girl #3 is due in a few weeks. Yes, Franklin the cartoon turtle! Because we're in Canada, he has a French menu setting! I would LOVE to have some Chinese cartoons for the girls. Not only is it the most spoken language in the world, but Lily was born in China while we were living there and I would love to have her acquire the language. I'll check out the site you recommended! I would especially love to have Elmo/Sesame St. since Lily (25m) LOVES him! Perhaps I could find some French or Spanish option DVD's here for you we can do an exchange?

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / MUHAHA! French Success!

Well, success is in the sense that she's watching French right now and hasn't complained or even seemed to notice! Being in Canada, several of our cartoons that we watch sparingly have a French setting as well. The girls are currently watching Franklin, (or Benjamin, en Francais) and haven't even seemed to notice the difference!
YIPPEE!! I wish our cartoons had a Chinese setting!! Does anyone have common cartoons in Chinese, by any chance?

So very sad that we even have to ask this question, isn't it?
I would say that, since there's nothing wrong with what your doing, there is not reason NOT to tell. But that's just my take on it. I am very happy to defend my position to all of the naysayers, but it can be a lot of work. Hopefully your family will at least me understanding.
Good luck and do let us know what conclusion you ome to in the end!

Hi KL, I'm sure you have a full team already and probably have things under control, but my husband and one of my best friends are both have degrees in computer science. I also have a good friend who is a web developer who may owe me a favour or two. Let me know if there might be some way they can be of some assistance in getting the program rolled out in a timely manner.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: KNOWS the words, but won't "read" - what gives??

You know what, TmS, I think you got it exactly. Now that I think of it, even when she was 6m old and we were doing flashcards (colours, etc.) she would refuse to do them after she knew it. If, however, I changed it up and made a different game with colours, she was happy to do it!
Great insight - thanks! Karma to you!
