Jothi, Kudos to both of you! I have a 3 years old as well but he resists a lot to play keyboard. How do you encourage or motivate Santosh to play for 1 to 1.5 hours? Also, you said in one of your previous posts that Santosh learned to use all fingers to play all octaves after the initial five finger exercise. Right now, my son uses the five fingers exercise and I am at a loss as how to proceed further.

Did you let your son to play any of the SM songs according to his convenience, using any of the fingers for any of the keys? Or did you follow some strict finger exercises like Hanon?

TmT, it looks like those books in cheaper version are in German language. Even I am eagerly waiting for this book to come down at a reasonable rate and its a big disappointment that it is in German. Please let us know if what you receive is English language.

I understood from your previous posts that you don't know how to play piano. I am facing the same difficulty while teaching SM to my son. So, I would like to know how you taught your son to play all these songs with proper fingering. Did you take the help of a personal piano tutor or were you able to manage yourselves? If so, can you share me the fingering approaches and other elements.

Thanks all again for your tips, resources and encouragement! After 3 days break, we did the remaining problems in the worksheet and my son was giving correct solutions to all the problems. I didn't believe that my son would be able to do that after few days break but little ones disprove it all the time. This is just for the record.

Manda, you're very correct about the pattern identification. My main math goal for my son was to be able to identify patterns in math and so far I have been successful.

But I will let you know what we did. Right from 4months old on, LO has been eagerly watching the Doman dot cards. He was in fact little less interested in word cards. He used to giggle, laugh and enjoy when the dot cards were shown. In the beginning, I used Doman dot cards in black. When his interest waned, I used red dot cards. When his interest waned again, I put up the equations on the wall and would show it to him daily. Likewise, we had several backup plans: powerpoint slides, powerpoint slides with his pictures, powerpoint slides with his favourite animals, etc.

I bought Little math recently because I thought he would still benefit from the dots. After about 50 lessons, he lost his interest. But I installed other languages in LM and since then he is so eager to watch the dots. Once he loses his interest in other languages, I will think of other methods.

I introduced some Montessori style math methods When he was 18months. After he turned 2, I started doing Miquon math with cuisenaire rods. This is one of the best investment in my opinion. I was also doing Marshmallow + Kitchen table style math throughout the day. Hope this helps.

It's really amazing to see a 1-year old read music notes. Congratulations to Robert! A few months before, my LO took Lego bricks and started arranging in a different pattern. I was wondering what he was doing, later he started to sing the solfege according to the colors in lego bricks. The rainbow color patterns for music notes is truly brilliant for young children.

Korrale4kq, Excuse me if my sentiments are different as I come from a different culture. Wearing glasses at 3 yo is unheard of in our communities and I am constantly worried about my son as we started very early reading with him. Do you think that near-sightedness is genetic or is it because of reading a lot. Can it be prevented in some ways or reducing reading is the only way?

Keri, you will not regret spending money on TV teacher DVDs. I bought those about a year ago after reading TmT's reviews in this forum. It is well worth the money as I have very less time to teach him. My son has learnt to write all the lowercase letters and numbers. I am yet to open the uppercase DVD. Recently, he started writing his own name. I just wish there was one for cursive as well.
