I hear you Kimba15, I generally get negative comments when I discuss early learning with others. I have stopped talking about it. But recently I had to discuss my daughters language ability to a montessori directress since she is to start stage 1 next year. I told her she can basically read any book she picks up, dont know the level but probably for a 4-6 yr old. I told her I did a flash card program with her ect What I got as a reply was with what you are doing, the candle will burn out...it will. It just really bothered me...the only thing I did was to teach my daughter to read, dont do math or EK. Her general knowledge is from reading non fiction books. But this person who is suppose to have an understanding of early learning saying something like that made me really worry if what I am doing-putting her in montessori education is the right thing to do. Not only that she is suggesting that I am force teaching her hence her reading ability before 3. It bothered me for days, I cannot put her through the public system as I dont want her to not show her full potential so she can be like everyone else in the class. I am not a teacher or very organise to homeschool.

I have heard of Mandarin Stars and yes it's very expensive. MMBC has a similar fee. My daughter attended only a term and learn many chinese songs and chinese words. To sum it up it was like playschool in chinese with one person speaking 100% in mandarin. They do activities like flashcard, putting the ball in the basket with the correct picture for the chinese word mentioned. Story telling in chinese, craft, have a snack and talk. Its all hands on activities. We ended the lessons as yes it was expensive to go on but I found that my local library has story telling in mandarin and they do similar things but with no involment, more like sit, listen and sing and its FREE. Although my daughter enjoys MMBC more she sometimes asks if we can go to see Jo. Had to explain to her Jo was too expensive.

Hi Joha, I was weighing my option on whether I should make the around the bed crawling track for night time use and had the niggling safety issue. I also have images of hubby stumbling over bub. So I would love to hear of any experiences with using the crawling track with newborns for sleeping throughtout the night before I make my final decision.

Hi, I highly recommend purchasing the whole package from wink to learn-speak and read chinese and sing to learn chinese. They are the best chinese learning products I have come across. (I have bought quite a few.) They use large chinese characters to teach. Similar to doman program they teach words then couplets to sentences. The pictures are clear and beautiful. Its worth every $$ with no regrets to this purchase. My daughter particularly loves watching disc 6 as it has children pronouncing the words and always constantly asking to watch the 2 girls and baby reading. The sing to learn is also the best learning material I have. It has lots of catchy songs and songs with popular tunes to them. What I like most is that it teaches some of the words to each song before they are sung. Those words are displayed in large clear fomat. The chinese characters are highlighted as it is sung, similar to karaoke but these words are much larger and clearer. My daughter loves watching it and so do I! So much that I have recently bought volume 2 and 3 as well!

Bitmunk.com site doesnt seem to work for me...but many many thanks for those links. The dvd I ordered arrived yesterday "sing to learn chinese"from wink to learn! It is awesome!! It has all the catchy melody chinese songs including Twinkle little star, two tigers and where are my friends! My daughter loves it! I think it might be due to a child /children singing it. Its educational too, some of the words to the song are pronounced before the start of each song.
I had a look at mei mei and me and read some of the feedbacks in amazon. It seems like a dvd that my daughter loves to watch again and again. Will be on my 'to puchase' list!
Is there a chinese song that is to the tune of row row your boat?

WOW Thanks wenjonggal! I have seen those from youtube. They are fantastic learning material, we just dont have enough dl capacity online and they tend to freeze on screen. I am just looking for something more portable a cd. Those mp3/cd site is exactly what I have been searching for, I am not too keen on the opera "twang" to these songs but I guess its for my daughter. I'll get Twinkle get it cd repeat & grin and bear it thanks for the pinyin too...I can learn it!
