BrillKids Software / HOW TOs and FAQs / Re: How to use the Icon Set Settings

Hahaha Well we're not magicians, kizudo, but what I can tell you is that, just like with Little Reader, we're soon to release version 1.6 of Little Math, which will come with an OVERRIDE feature! It'll let you specify red dots (or any other playback setting) and override any preset settings, so that should be just the thing you're looking for. Keep an eye out for it! shuki

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Questions about upgrading/new subscription. Will I lose files?
|
on: February 04, 2010, 02:38:22 AM

Hi teachermom! A lot of questions, let's look at them one by one. UpgradesWhen upgrading your subscription, you will simply pay the difference, there are no additional charges. With regard to benefits of upgrading now rather than later, you will still receive the same products, course lessons etc. so you will not miss out on anything. Also, will I be able to keep files I've downloaded from the forums? The free and "paid" content using my points once my 6-month subscription ends?Yep, and yup! If I want to use the Semester 1 curriculum with my new baby (in a few months), and I purge, will I lose the days I've already covered with my older child??The Purge function in Little Reader doesn't work that way - it's used to purge unused files from your Media Library to save hard disk space, by trawling through all your Little Reader lessons and then determining which files are no longer in use by ANY lesson. If you would like to set up multiple profiles, we would recommend installing Little Reader on a second computer, as the current versions of Little Reader do not allow for separate profiles on a single PC. Hope that clears things up! Shuki

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Inconsistent playback when playing playlists...
|

Hi guys, This sounds quite strange! Can affected users please try upgrading to the latest version of LR (1.5.257 I believe) and see if the error still occurs? Also, I'll be making a note to discuss this with the programmers, so I just wanted to make sure I understand the problem(s). Please help me clarify: - When auto-forward is ON, the first picture shown each time LR is started will 'blip', provided it does not have any audio attached. - Auto-Forward may be cutting pronunciations short? - Occasionally, playback slides will display for longer/shorter than expected. Also, mom2ross and Mum - does this behaviour only occur during user-created data, or with course lessons as well? Cheers guys, looking forward to hearing from you. Shuki

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Perfect Pitch- Beneficial? or Harmful?
|
on: January 26, 2010, 09:35:13 AM
|
Hi Danny and Amy! I wasn't born with perfect pitch, but have developed it to an extent through musical studies (if someone plays a G chord I can spot it immediately etc). I can say that noises or music are definitely not overwhelming for me - I have the ability to work well in both absolute silence or with loud music/noises around, it just depends on my mood at the time whether I will prefer noise or silence. When I get really engrossed in what I'm working on, it makes no difference to me, I'm just in my own little world. Being able to identify In my studies and musical gigs I also met a few people who possessed perfect pitch, both in-born and taught later in life, none of whom expressed any inability to concentrate due to noise. If anything, they generally seemed to prefer having some soft music playing in the background or having a TV on with the volume down while they studied, to avoid the awkward absence of any sound. Personally, I think it boils down to the individual more than anything. Shuki

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Copying a playlist

In the text it should be no problem - in the filenames however, we do recommend that users stick with standard alphanumeric (no symbols other than underscores, A to Z, 1 to 9) filenames. Hope that helps, do let us know if you continue to experience difficulties. Shuki

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: Settings lost when dragging category to playlist...
|
on: January 22, 2010, 09:30:52 AM

Hi mom2ross, The current functionality has been set this way intentionally due to a variety of reasons and mixture of user feedback. However, the good news is, we'll be releasing Little Reader 1.6 soon with a new 'Override' feature, which basically allows parents to choose save specific Playback settings which they may apply to any lesson they play! We'll definitely take your comments into account however, as we're always looking at ways to streamline and optimise the software's functionality. Cheers, Shuki
