Thanks, I might use it later on as well when she will grow up. Will see I guess So much to see, so much to do with them I want to teach her Russian but not sure if I want to do it myself. If I continue with her LM/LR English plus other activities like swimming etc., don't know how to find time for other things. Maybe later on..since we speak Russian, at least she will understand it but teaching to read is another chapter Have to involve grandparents

Local Support Groups / Canada / Re: How supportive is your family when it comes to early learning?

I am happy that my family is very supportive. Basically, I decide what is needed and talk to my hubby. If we both agree especially when it is quite an expensive buy, I buy it. Since the education is first priority on our list there is no issues. However, I teach my LO almost all the time, nobody else is taking initiative if I am away. It is ok with me, I know my baby need a break too so I don't mind. Instead, on weekend we can continue to do LR/LM if she skips a day of two. I started to gave her more things like: I downloaded on my IPad some free educational softwares for little babies like drawing, French flashcard etc. and she loves it.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Teaching kids to meditate

Hi Lori, Not sure where you are located but I'll post anyway. There are many different techniques to teach children meditation and one of them is Vipassana. I attended couple of meditation camps myself and was very happy with it. It is based on donation and nothing related to religion or something like that. You can check in your area but if you are in Canada, just Google Vipassana (by Goenka - it is a teacher who started it). There are meditation courses for adults and children. For children I believe is 1 day course. You can find out more here: http://www.torana.dhamma.org/children-teen.html and here is the schedule of how a 1 day looks like: http://www.torana.dhamma.org/children.htmlIf you are in different location you can go: http://www.dhamma.org/ - this is main website and on the left you can select where you live. All the best, it is a good idea to learn how to meditation for you and your children. Alla

He-he, no you not asking too much I am on mat.leave and still have 4 month to go. I wonder how you continue after a year of LM/LR was done? Did you created flashcards in the software and use to download material from the site? I am just wondering what to do after it is finished.. I don't expect her to start reading at 1,5 year old even though it would be nice Do you have other material you use as well?

Yeah! Nice to have you so close I live in Stoney Creek (Hamilton area). How old is your little one? We have 2 French immersion near by: one in Burlington and one is Hamilton (Mountain area). They accept children from 2-2,5 y.o. I just called them recently. We want our daughter to go to French school eventually after kindergarten, hopefully they will accept. I think the rule is that someone in a family have to speak French. I am lucky because our neighbors also speak French and the wife is actually French teach so when my little one grow up a bit she can speak French with someone too Alla

Hello Elle, I live in Ontario and we definitely put our little one to French Immersion. As far as I found out, they have kindergarten for 2 y.o and up as well. I think it is important to start as early as possible. I couldn't find any French speaking daycare before 2 y.o. but I think it is still ok if she will start learning another language at that age. We speak Russian at home and we have LR and LM lessons daily (in English) since she is 4 month old for now. I do speak French as well and I want my daughter to know at least 2 languages.
Thanks, Alla

BrillKids Software / Tech Support / Trial version of Little Reader not removed after 14 days
|
on: June 15, 2012, 05:26:58 PM
|
Hello, I recently bought Little Reader after having 14 days Trial version. My trial version is still available and it is inconvenient since it is always goes to trial instead full version and I have to manually select correct course all the time. I am wondering if there is a way to disable trial version or take it off completely. It didn't disappear after 14 days and still in the software.
Thanks,

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Need some guidance with flash card please

Hello, I recently bought LR and LM programs for my 5 month old daughter. We already started using it. I would like to introduce flash card to her along with computer version of a LR program but I am not sure where to start. 1. Should I prepare difference words then the one in the course or it should be the same? 2. Should I start with word flash cards only and let’s say in a month or so to add a picture at the back of the card too? 3. Can I introduce her to French language flash cards at the same time as English mixing it together or should I separate each language and teach only one at a time? 4. Do you use any extra material for LM computer version and what is it? Appreciate all your input! Thanks
